It isn't fair just to say you hate the whole genre without giving any reasons why, or indeed any evidence that you even know what it is. Rolling Eyes

Yeah I mean you could elaborate a bit more, maybe start an actual conversation for people, say something that proves you actually know what emo is. It seems like nowadays people seem to hate the style more then the actual music itself. I personally love emo music. Taking Back Sunday, Senses Fail, and Say Anything are some of my favorite bands, and Cute Is What We Aim for is a guilty pleasure of mine. tehe

Okay, I'm not a fan of "emo" music, but dude really, you give no back up as to why you "hate" it. And this thread is most likely going to turn into an argument. Go and comment on a genre you like.

Grow up.

That's true. Alot of people seem to hate the style more than the music.
I adore Taking Back Sunday and Senses Fail as well. tehe

I like emo music, I just hate being labeled as emo.

Its a book about emo culture, and I never laughed so hard
in my life.

Eh...when I saw them at Taste Of Chaos last year, Buddy's voice got all fucked up and such. Which made them not-so-amazing live, in my opinion. But the crowd got really rowdy, so that kind of made up for it.

What I hate is that any band that seems to show emotion in their lyrics are labeled as emo. Rolling Eyes Like if a up and coming band have a single that's about a break-up or ex-girlfriend they seem to be automatically labeled as emo.

I've only read a little bit of it, but it's hilarious. lmfao

Brand New is adfaskldj In Love
God I love that band, Jesse's lyrics are utterly amazing. Just pure beauty. In Love

I'm gonna marry Jesse Lacey. But Seriously, Deja Entendu is my baby. I love that album more than anything.

I absolutely love 1997, too. They're from Chicago and they're signed to Victory Records for whoever hasn't heard of them.

I love emo. My friend Carla has an interesting theory about "emo" music. It's music with passion, drive, love, hate, EMOTIONS!!! It's anything that helps you feel like your life is meaningful, makes you wanna do something. So in that respect I love Emo music.

Escape The Fate are alright, & they don't have a douche singer any more.
Are they emo? I don't know. I think they are...
I don't tend to call music "emo". People don't know what it means anyway, it's a cheap imitation of a stye that started in the 80s.
Do people call From First To Last emo? 'Cause they're also quite good when they want to be, but not all the time.

I prefer rock..... and metal.

I really don't like how people "hate it" because if you think about it, all good music has an emotion behind it right? If you look at it that way it really broadens the genre tehe But I like a lot of the music but into this category

Well, it really depends what emo is to you.
A 1980's band?
A mainstream band?
An underground band?

I really don't see what bands emo fits into. It's not as simple as rock or punk. As it would seem.

I completely agree with that. It bothers me to no end because the people who do that don't know what emo really is.
