To be honest, I've never really listened to it. Though, a lot of the bands mentioned here sound good, I'll give them a try, for sure.

Have you looked at your taste of music lately?
It's pretty damn emo.

Me personally:
Meh... I don't really like emo music. It kind of bores me.
There a very few whole genres that I dislike. Country being one of them.
Emo just kind of annoys me. I don't know.
I don't really understand it. It's so psuedo-deep.

^^ I absolutely HATE country music.
I have no idea why, but everytime I hear it I just cringe
and I consider my music Alternative because I, am not emo.

I understand that but
I don't consider emo to be a genre of music.
To me emo is a style that everyone is trying to be at the moment
but generally until iTunes or something falls out of the sky
and tells me my music is emo, I'm calling it alternative.
Hell, I'll even accept punk, rock whatever...

Emo started out as music but now it's become some sort of weird fashion/attitude.

Anywoo, I like some emo, but most of the bands sound exactly the same.
And look the same too.

I like Taking Back Sunday though Very Happy

Yeah I mean you could elaborate a bit more, maybe start an actual conversation for people, say something that proves you actually know what emo is. It seems like nowadays people seem to hate the style more then the actual music itself. I personally love emo music. Taking Back Sunday, Senses Fail, and Say Anything are some of my favorite bands, and Cute Is What We Aim for is a guilty pleasure of mine. tehe

I love all the bands you mentioned, as well.

I'm a fan of emo. I LOVE it. And like a lot of other people on here, my favorite emo bands are From First to Last, Taking Back Sunday, Senses Fail, Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, and My Chemical Romance. (I call them emo, but I guess it depends on who you ask.)
One thing I don't understand is why people make such a big deal out of it. What's wrong with a band being emo? When a band is labeled as heavy metal or rock, nobody makes it an issue, so why do people freak out about emo music?

What I hate is that any band that seems to show emotion in their lyrics are labeled as emo. Rolling Eyes Like if a up and coming band have a single that's about a break-up or ex-girlfriend they seem to be automatically labeled as emo.

I completely agree with that. It bothers me to no end because the people who do that don't know what emo really is.
I think you shouldn't judge the genre just like that.

For me, I think it's not that bad.

Maybe it's just because you can't relate to the messages of the songs under this genre.

It's up to you. Just give it another shot. You'll love it.

All I know is what I think and I think that there is no such genre as "emo". There are too many subcategories that I don't think it exists any more.
Of course that is just what I think and I know those who don't understand the music just clump it all together.

Most people who say they like Emo music just confuse it with pop-rock,hardcore,and screamo;thanks to the media calling it Emo.I have yet to meet a real "Emo" that listens to real Emo music.
