I mean, those stores (as well as Abercrombie and American Eagle) all sell the same exact things, but they just have a different logo plastered onto the fucking clothes. That's just MY opinion. I'm pretty sure there are Mibbians who are somewhat fond of the brands, and others who aren't. Let's keep this topic off of preps, too, btw. 'Cause we don't need to be reminded 2048205536 times that that's where the preps basically live & breathe at. |

To be honest some of the clothes they sell aren't that nice looking. Abercombie is super expesive. I found a belt there for $80. I would never buy a belt for that much to be honest. And if I ever buy anything at Hollister it has to be on sale, but I rarely do so it really doesn't matter. |

| Deleted Account Amateur Author Age: - Gender: - Posts: 223 | Their stuff is super tiny and long. I mean you have to be a size 0 too fit in their clothes, and I also don't want to spend all of my allowance on a overly expensive shirt that I can buy elsewhere. Besids, I can't go into Hollister without getting dizzy from all the fumes. And when I went in there, the cashier eyed me evilly. ):< |
| Idee Fixe. Fanfic Fanatic Age: 14 Gender: Female Posts: 2840 | I've never been inside their stores but I have seen their clothes; they're pretty cute, from what I see. The only thing bothering my mind is that if they're comfortable to wear. One thing, though, that I hate about those stores are their boutique/company logo plastered on the shirt. I find it a tad bit annoying. It kind of makes the one who wears the tee a walking advertisment of the boutique. |
| Miss.Artisticle. Writer's Block Age: 13 Gender: Female Posts: 24 | I live in England, so when I went to CA recently, we went into this mall and I saw a Hollister branch, so I thought I might aswell see what the fuss was about. In the end I got two tops, which were really fitted and long - alot of their tops are quite long (well, they were when I went). The sizes were like *Betty Small* and stuff I was like, what?! Where are the numbers? But anyway, I dont normally wear shirts that have the label written on them in big letters, so I'm not really bothered about where I buy my clothes. As long they are comfortable and look good, I'm fine with wherever I buy my stuff. x |
| play_your_music Writer's Block Age: 14 Gender: Female Posts: 62 | I'm not really a big fan of their clothing. It is quite expensive, and I feel I can buy better looking, feeling, and cheaper clothing elsewhere. I find Hollister and Abercrombie tops very skin-tight and long, which isn't really my style. |
| Fall Out Haley. Ink Slinger Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 816 | Idee Fixe.: They're comfortable to wear. =] I am probably going to get hated on for saying this... But I love shopping there. A lot of my clothes come from Hollister and Abercrombie. Although I got quite offended by the person that started this thread who kind of contradicted herself by saying "let's keep the subject away from preps.... we all know they breathe there" or something like that. That's just a bit judgemental, don't you think? I mean, I wear a lot of clothes there but I wouldn't consider myself a prep. I'm just me, jeez. |
| Maxwell Green. Cliché Catastrophe Age: 69 Gender: Female Posts: 550 | The only stores I can't stand are American Apparel and American Eagle. Shoot me now, but in my opinion, the stuff is waaaaaay overpriced and extremely boring. I used to have a few things from Abercrombie, when I was littler... they have some nice clothing, if that's what you're into. But it's stuff way overpriced. |
| Mistress memories Amateur Author Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 261 | I could but the same pair of pants of at sears for half that money, and have them not ripped. They are really really expensive. I've been inside and from my standing point, they don't have a very wide selection of clothes, and all they have is 'Hollister' or 'Abercrombie & Fitch' on them. |
| Spaztastic Grammar Guru Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 5390 | Kurtni Monroe: Yeah...my sister was and still is a prep at the age of 25. Never once shopped at those stores. It was too expensive compared to what she earned at her job and what my mom gave her. Both she and I prefer American Eagle, though I rarely shop there. Sometimes I get jeans. They're cheaper. My sister actually doesn't like Hollister or A&F at all. Aren't Hollister and A&F California based stores? A lot of people there are rich and skinny, so of course they're going to cater to those people. Also, isn't Hot Topic owned by the same company as Hollister? Or was it the Gap? It's one of those...I know that for sure. Basically, it's one person/company wanting to get to many types of people. It's all about the labels, and yes, HT has lots of Brand Names. I could name them all. |
| meeshell. Cliché Catastrophe Age: 13 Gender: Female Posts: 702 | Spaztastic: But, I don't think they're all written on every single shirt they sell. |
| Spaztastic Grammar Guru Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 5390 | But they have tags that hang off the clothing so everyone can see. All Tripp pants do. It's a little red tag that hangs either off the waist, or if it's capris/shorts, near the leg opening. I'm not sure about other pants since I don't buy them from there. All Converse shoes have the brand name slapped right on the side. It's still just as goddamned expensive as the stores a lot of people on here seem to hate for being expensive. So saying Hot Topic is better because of the prices is a bunch of bull. It's a mainstream store anyway, and all mainstream stores with teenagers just want money. Also, I've seen A&F shirts that don't have the name on them. |
| Maxwell Green. Cliché Catastrophe Age: 69 Gender: Female Posts: 550 | Hot Topic is A&F for 'scene/emo/whatever the fuck it's called now' kids. sad, but true. ...but I still like hot topic better. they have better designs and colors, not just PINK! and LIGHT BLUE! and WHITE! hot topic's chillll [spam]seriously, I have this preppy classmate who was too scared to walk into hot topic. [/spam] |
| Maxwell Green. Cliché Catastrophe Age: 69 Gender: Female Posts: 550 | PS: actually I prefer Winners. Does anyone else like Winners? They have the best stock without writing 'WINNERS' all over their stuff. Winners is the bomb. The stuff there is a million times nicer anyways. ...Speaking of completely over-expensive stuff, what about those UGG boots? I duns laik dem at all. |
| Spaztastic Grammar Guru Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 5390 | gerontophobia.: People could say the same thing about Hot Topic and how there's lack of color. It has no color what-so-ever. It's all dark. I don't see how people can wear black on black on black all summer especially where I live when it gets 90 degrees with 90% humidity. I personally really don't go in there unless there's an old school punk ('77) shirt I want - which is really, really rare. I hate the lack of colors, because I like neon colors or plaid against black or ripped up shit that I usually make myself anyhow. They don't sell that there, nor designs I like. It's all scene and I hate scene fashion with a passion. (oh I rhymed!) I'm just playing both sides here. Devil's advocate I think the term is. Honestly, I perfer Angry Young & Poor and Target. Sure, I have a few things from HT but it's all Sex Pistols poster, CD and one shirt and and some capris All of which were bought nearly 3 years ago. I have AE jeans, so I guess that counts towards the prep-ish style. I also have classmates afraid to walk into A&F. It's pathetic really, to be afraid to walk into a store. Very immature. I laugh at people like that and look down upon them. PS. I like pink. I like light blue. I like colors that annoy people because that catches their attention. It clashes with my spiked hair and multiple pierced ears. White shirts are the best to draw on, too. |
| Maxwell Green. Cliché Catastrophe Age: 69 Gender: Female Posts: 550 | Well, I don't have Hot Topic where I live, but from the looks of the website, they have a lot more color than black. I like pink and blue and white too, I just don't liek wearing it all together. I don't like wearing all black either, that's kinda wierd. But all in all, I still prefer Hot Topic. But that's just me. The jeans at all those 'preppy' stores can sometimes be really nice. But the shirts... all look the aame. In my opinion. |
| Spaztastic Grammar Guru Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 5390 | I have...three Hot Topics in my general area. All differ from one another, really. One caters to the gothic crowd like it did in the '90s. The one closest to me caters to the newest scene/emo trend and the one farthest is my favorite - more '80s with the band tees. If I could get to that one I would probably go more often since I like bands from then. This is why I rarely go and don't like the store - mine sucks balls. Stores vary compared to what's on the site - sometimes the stores have what the site doesn't and vise versa. With me, it never has what I want online so I can order it. I rarely have enough money anyway. When I was in the one I liked last time I only had $20. Couldn't buy anything. I can't buy the shirts in preppy stores. I have an hour glass figure and they don't cater to anyone who isn't stick straight, or no real figure. I don't like how they cling to my body. Plus, a lot of their shirts and cut low, and I really don't want my boobs to fall out. Lol. I just stick with the cheap pants I can find at those stores. |
| Pie Fanfic Fanatic Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 1267 | Haley; FreshToDeath:I wasn't trying to offend anyone that liked the stores. I was saying that because, stereotypically, one would just figure it was where a prep would be found shopping at. I don't actually believe they would live and breathe there, nor do I believe that only preps shop there. My friend has some clothes from there, and she listens to basically the same music as me and shops at stores like Hot Topic. Please don't tell me I'm the only one who's read that little chain or whatever about the whole "80% of teens would stop breathing because Abercrombie said it was uncool" thing. |
| Pie Fanfic Fanatic Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 1267 | Spaztastic:If you look closely, you might see a moose or some other animal on the clothes that's really small. That's another logo of the company. ..........Don't ask how I know. |
