Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 102 | August 15th, 2008 at 05:25pm I don't like that series with that book called "Startled by his Fuzzy Shorts" It's a series written by Startled by Louise Rennison.
It really didn't catch my interest because the eintire series really wasn't about anything except this girl trying to "snog" with some guy. Ahaha... it was funny reading the first chapter because the character sounds just like the girls at my school.
Anyways... the book really didn't appeal to me. In my opinion the plot didn't seem well thought out and the way it was written got on my nerves. [/rant] |

I didn't really like The Giver. I found it quite boring and confusing. And the thought of being one of the fifty conformists of the town gives me the shivers.
I hated The Giver. It gave me the creeps and it was somewhat confusing.

But Odysseus wasn't a hero, he was just a time-wasting asshole. I can't remember a single thing he did in that story that can be considered heroic, that he actually did on his own (for christ's sake, he needed help with everything, he was a horrible character).
I agree, plus what type of hero sleeps with a few goddesses/women while his wife was waiting for him? For years I might add.
Edit: Never meant to be rude or anything, just pointing that out. |

Age: 13 Gender: Female Posts: 1112 | August 16th, 2008 at 12:21pm I didn't like The Listkeeper. The character was dull and boring, and there was no plot. It was extremely hard to get into to and I got tired of it halfway through. But that's just my opinion. |

Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 2434 | August 16th, 2008 at 04:44pm I borrowed Catcher in the Rye from the library and reallyreally didn't like it. Tbh, I didn't quite see what the big deal about it was, and from what I remember, there wasn't much of a plot, either. And Holden Caufield, he just came off as this awful person I never want to meet.
So. Catcher in the Rye = fail
Imo, anyway. |

I never finished that book, I couldn't get past the second chapter.
I have a short attention with books(much like everything else) and I just didn't have the will to get past the boring parts. |

Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 429 | August 18th, 2008 at 03:24am I'm going to get yelled at for this, but also The Lord of the Rings
I tried reading it, I honestly tried. It was after I'd seen all the movies, and loved them so much, that I thought it would be cool to read the books. My mom told me it would be better to read The Hobbit before I read any of the actual LOTR books, so I did. Couldn't get into it at all, but I managed to finish it. I tried reading The Fellowship of the Ring after that, and it was just...ugh, boring as all hell. I was dissappointed. I mean, I know it would have been different, as a somewhat old fantasy story, but good god. I couldn't get past the beginning, it just dragged on and on. And my mom had told me that I would have to skip over some parts when I got to them, because there were pages and pages of these weird songs they'd sing; and these endless descriptions of some place they'd be in, or who their ancestors/cousins/second cousins/distant families/whoever were. It was ridiculous. |

Mates, Dates (insert a bunch of titles here)-
They're just...annoying. They sort of remind me of a ten year olds writing, to be honest. The books have chat speak in them; save it for the net, keep it out of your books. I mean; sure, it's about teenage girls, but still! It's not needed.
To Kill A Mocking Bird- I just don't like the book.
The Lord of The Rings- I just can't get into the book
There's more, but, I won't bore you with them, the list would be never ending.

I finished the first book but it took me forever to read, and the chapters are so long too.
I think once you do actually get into it and are at, maybe, the middle of the second book or something then they should be really good, but it's just a real mission to get there. |

Age: 18 Gender: Female Posts: 216 | August 27th, 2008 at 12:08am The Twilight series, it's so cliche, and... Edward is creepy. I don't like him. (Although I still read them anyway, I love them and hate them at the same time, it's very confusing...)
The Silmarillion by Tolkein, there was too many characters and I got lost.
The Hamilton Case by Michelle de Kretser. We had to do it in Lit this year, and although she's a really excellent writer, the character of Sam is just disgusting, I hated him so much.
Another book we did in Lit, the Idea of Perfection by Kate Grenville. There was basically no plot whatsoever, it almost bored me to tears. |
