But then I thought about it, and it's not something you just do on a whim but plan and research beforehand. Anyone care to share their tattoo experiences? Such as the obvious questions: "Did it hurt?" "Was your tattoo done by a professional or a beginner?" "Do you regret it?" and so on... If needed, delete or move. I wasn't sure were to put it. |
| Spaztastic Grammar Guru Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 5396 | These are all questions I asked my brother. He has five tattoos. My sister agrees with him, and she has one giant one on the small of her back and two on her feet. 1) Yes, while it was being done. Especially the one that went across my spinal chord. It made me shake and kept bleeding all night. 2) Professional. I don't trust the newbies. They could fuck up. 3) No. If you don't want to regret a tattoo, print out a picture or draw one of what you want. Look at it for three weeks as soon as you wake up in the morning. If you still like it then, you'll like it forever. (My sister regrets the one on her foot. It matches an ex-boyfriend. She says never get a tattoo that matches someone else's because you may not be with them or like them tomorrow. Unless it has nothing to do with the relationship, or if it's family member related.) |

| ChemicallyImbalanced Wordsmith Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 10251 | Um... I did a tattoo myself on my ankle, although I wouldn't recommend it. I want to get a professional one on my lower back and my hipbone. I've already got plans for them. Mum said draw them on with a permanent marker and keep reapplying it and if I still like them in a couple of months then have them done. Of course, I have to wait until I'm eighteen. |

I am getting one for my birthday in August, it'll be my first tattoo and it means something and also marks this phase of my life. Alot of thought should go into it, because once you have it it is damn hard to get rid of and expensive too. |

| ChemicallyImbalanced Wordsmith Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 10251 | spiderine.: Yeah, it depends on how you feel about it. If you're going to get a tattoo you're going to realise it's going to stay there for the rest of your life. I saw on TV not long ago a segment on the news about it. Most who had them didn't say they regretted it, because they all meant something. |
| punkxemoxgothxgirlxx dead. Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 3314 | They say that it depends on your pain threshold. I think, compared to giving birth or something, it isn't that painful. It just depends. And it's usually a bad idea to get names tattooed. A name is worse than a symbol or something. I want to get a tattoo as soon as I turn 18. ![]() |

Editor Age: 14 Gender: Female Posts: 13769 | This is probably going to sound really lame, but I want to get a tattoo saying ''Chemically Romantic'' in beautiful cursive writing. I want the ''Chemically'' to be red, and the ''Romantic'' to be black. I'd like to get it on my upper left back, next to my shoulder. It'd really mean something to me. |
| Flu Rescent. Fanfic Fanatic Age: 17 Gender: Female Posts: 1696 | Gabriel Gray.: Yes. I have the lowest threshold ever, so I'll have to grin and bear it unfortunately. XD ----- I've always had two tattoos in mind for... some time now. This one just to the side of my hip or shoulder, and a small, simple design of my zodiac. I'd probably get the small one first as sort of a taster when I turn 18. Some of my friends have tattoos, and they say they get them because they like the pain of getting one. Which is understandable because of the adrenaline they get from it, I suppose. I guess it really depends on what size it is, where you have it, what detail you have to it, and pain threshold. I think my mum told me that writing doesn't hurt so much because it's just outline. That could be wrong though. |
| Maxwell Green. Cliché Catastrophe Age: 69 Gender: Female Posts: 551 | I've been waiting to get tattoos since I was a little kid o_o So far the only ideas that have stuck with me for a long time have been "thank you for the venom" on my lower back. "thank you for the" will be in black, and "venom" will be in red. the "m" of "venom" will be longer... like, the last part of it will curve up, and wrapped around it will be a rosary. (I might get rid of that idea since I don't believe in religion, but it's the whole package that counts so I like it.) I also want to get a dog paw somewhere on my body, maybe wrist ot ankle, to symbolize the time and effort i've put into becoming a vegetarien, and to remind me how many animals i'm saving. buuuuuuut enough about me. if the tattoo would mean a lot to you, then get it done. I suggest you wait at least a year after you have the idea to think it over. If you still want it a year from now, get it done. If the tattoo holds a lot of memories/importance, it's completely worth it. it'll always be there by your side, reminding you of your past. And when you're old, your past and your memories are the only things that are going to mater to you, not the fact that your tattoo now doesn't look so nice. That's my opinion. |
| Spaztastic Grammar Guru Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 5396 | spiderine.: Depends on how you feel about it and what it is. My sister's will look weird because it's college related on her foot. On her back it's just Japanese symbols, so those won't My brother has a Japanese symbol (which relates the his personality) on each arm and then his astrological sign right at the top of his spin. Those won't look so weird as he ages. But the one on his ankle might get wrinkled. It really depends on where it is, too. Some places get wrinkled fast as you age and look weird if there's a tattoo there. Of course some people don't care - I've only seen Veterans who are that old with tattoo, but they hold a lot of memory to them. Just don't get your eyes tattooed. My mom has her eyeliner done and she cried the whole time. If it goes across your spine and is a picture, you'll shake and get dizzy. Your ankle hurts a lot because there's not a lot of flesh there. Arms, stomach, legs and back don't really hurt unless your bones stick out. All of these are what my family has told me. I, for one, will never get a tattoo. They're not for me. |
| fool's paradise Ink Slinger Age: 14 Gender: Female Posts: 840 | If I ever got a tattoo, it would be in memory of something. I go through phases. The next thing I need is to ink something on my ass I'll hate a year from now. I probably wouldn't get one. And just so you know, the phrase you're spoofing, "To be or not to be", was a statement, not a question. "To be or not to be; that is the question. Whether tis nobler in mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outragious fortune..." yadda yadda. Your title should be "To Ink or Not to Ink". Sans question mark. Sorry if that's considered spam, but it's a misconception that gets on my nerves a lot. Much like the Frankenstein's monster one. |
| Brianna! grr Fanfic Fanatic Age: 17 Gender: Female Posts: 1588 | I'm getting at least two on my eighteenth birthday, of course against everyone's wishes, whatever. I'm gettine 'LOVE' with a peace sign in the o, and an All Time Low one, really small and somewhere I can forget about onceif I ever stop liking them. I would get one if you really want it, but like my friend says, wait for a year before you decide to get one, then if you still want it, get it. Also, if people say things like "You won't like it when you're older!" or stuff like that, consider it as a memory, to remember some time in your life that you want to have something to remind you of something that was or is important to you. |
| Exquisite. Fanfic Fanatic Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 2180 | I'm going to get one on the last day on my holiday to Spain [so basically on 17th July], because I've heard it's way cheaper over there && still good, so.. I want a black star on my right hipridge and I think I want it coloured in with black, too. I'd get it done in where I live if it wasn't so freakin' expensive and at least three of my friends have gotten their tattoos done on their holiday, so I'm just gonna go with it and spare me some 40 Euros. : ] I might wanna go with writing later on, but I'm still not sure on what line, so I'm just gonna wait until it hits me. : ] |
| Bells. Fanfic Fanatic Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 1071 | I want something tiny, simple and painful to the minimum, like a little treble clef on my arm or thigh or something... I wouldn't mind one on my hip, but it would just hurt like a bitch... |
| ChemicallyImbalanced Wordsmith Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 10251 | Yeah, Tattoos that are over bones, like on the hipbone or on the ribs, absolutely kill. |
