Some places I've been to right out refuse to pierce you unless you've eaten something, and they send you off to get some food before you get the piercing. It makes you a lot less susceptible to fainting (seeing as after you've eaten, you have a higher blood sugar level, yada yada, all that good stuff). I really don't know about taking pain medicine beforehand, but to cope with the pain, I usually bring along a friend and when I'm getting it done, I try to imagine that I'm just pinching myself in that place, to distract my mind from the fact it's a needle and it kinda hurts! If you think of it in a relative way, the pain's only gonna last a few minutes, in comparison to (if chosen) the lifetime you'll have that piercing! |

In a year and a month I will be totally mutilating my ears with all kinds of piercings (: I don't really want to go over board actually, I just love getting piercings. It's good. Just had to say that. (: |
| Isis Cliché Catastrophe Age: 17 Gender: Female Posts: 463 | Maybe this is a totally stupid question, but I am curious. It is safe and okay to have your eyebrows waxed after having your eyebrow pierced? If so, how long would you recommend waiting after it is pierced to do so? |
| Maxwell Green. Cliché Catastrophe Age: 69 Gender: Female Posts: 551 | Gravity Thrill: Where I live you can get any piercings (besides 'sexual' ones) by sixteen. I've got a year and three months to go. First on the list is a tongue piercing [/spam] So, for you underage people, what piercings are you planning on getting when you're old enough? I would love a tongue, lip, rook, tragus, helix and nape. |
| Maxwell Green. Cliché Catastrophe Age: 69 Gender: Female Posts: 551 | Okay I need some help. I want to start stretching [lobes], but I know my mom won't let me use her credit card to buy what I need online, and going to the piercing shop would be... expensive. Are there any household things that would be safe to stretch with or am I just being insanely stupid for even considering it? |
| C_annibal Ink Slinger Age: 20 Gender: Female Posts: 788 | Isis: Wax it seven days before you get the piercing and then wait till it is healed nad take the bar out when you do wax it. |
| C_annibal Ink Slinger Age: 20 Gender: Female Posts: 788 | gerontophobia.: Eat a good big meal an hour before you go to get pierced, I also suggest a cup of tea loaded with sugar. Now as for pain, you can get a numbing cream called, Emla cream, you slap it on half an hour before your piercing and you're numbed, my piercer told me about it when she had a fellow piercer pierce her nipple. And as for stretching, don't use anything lying around the house, you leave yourself open to infection since stretching is essentially creating a new flesh tube, leaving it more or less the same as a new piercing and not to mention micro tears you encounter, I suggest just to get your started go and get your lobes pierced with a big gauge needle, that way you will have to buy less tapers when you do go to stretch and it'll ne less expensive. Or. You could buy a taper/plug and wrap it in either PTFE pipe tape of bondage tape to up your sizes, but you'll have to check on how many winds makes a new size. |
| Frankito. Grammar Guru Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 4190 | I just got my nose pierced a couple of hours ago. So far I love it. But about how long should I wait before changing the ring? Because I think that I might want a slightly smaller hoop, or at least one without a ball in the middle of it. |
| C_annibal Ink Slinger Age: 20 Gender: Female Posts: 788 | Frankito.: I'd suggest leave it two to three months before you change it, this may seem like a long time, but your nose is an area where a fair bit of daily irritation happens, and you don't want to end with a keloid in the worst of cases or an infection. |
| life.lies Amateur Author Age: 17 Gender: Female Posts: 160 | D:< I swear if ONE more person asks me if my snake bites hurt ONE MORE time I'm going to rip them out and make them choke on it! I mean, five, FIVE people within a day have asked me this. WTF! This one girl was yelling about me and my friend were around in the hall and the next she sees my snake bites and starts to act like we've been friends for years (while asking me that damned question). My friend and I just looked at each other, laughed, and walked away. Ha, she looked ticked that I didn't answer her question. |
| cigarettesandlies Writer's Block Age: 47 Gender: Female Posts: 34 | So I have a question, if anyone could help me out with an answer, it would be swell. I had my lip pierced for a while, and then took it out. Now its grown over and I am dying to get it repierced. Is it safe to repierce something in the same spot? Or will it just hurt a crap ton more than it did the first time? |
| sin city. Cliché Catastrophe Age: 14 Gender: Female Posts: 560 | I just had my 2nd lobe piercing, at Claires. I know a lot of people are against guns, but it didn't hurt. Plus, we couldn't find a piercing place, as we went to a town we don't usually go to that often. I wouldn't get a cartalidge done in Claires, but so far my 2nd lobe is okay. |
| C_annibal Ink Slinger Age: 20 Gender: Female Posts: 788 | cigarettesandlies: If it is healed over, you should be right to have it re pierced |
| C_annibal Ink Slinger Age: 20 Gender: Female Posts: 788 | double o sevenfold.: It's not the pain factor for guns, it's the total damage they cause and how un hygienic they are. |
| Gravity Thrill Fanfic Fanatic Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 1591 | gerontophobia.: I'm gonna get an industrial, two more lobe piercings on each ear, tragus, perhaps another helix, nose and tongue. I'm sticking mainly with ears since I know I'll probably not want most of my piercings a few years after I get them. |
| Mrs.Halloween Amateur Author Age: 17 Gender: Female Posts: 137 | C_annibal: Yep! It's really, really not a safe way to get your ears pierced (even though in general, it's the most common). A piercing gun literally uses blunt force alone to 'pierce' your ear- like shoving a piece of jewellery through your skin, as opposed to piercing it with a needle. Which is a bit frightening when you think about it. |
| edgeissxc. Fanfic Fanatic Age: 69 Gender: Female Posts: 2217 | Gravity Thrill:Septum, two nose piercings, center vertical labaret and angel bites. [/symettrical freak] Then hip and nape piercings :] I think I'm getting one side of my nose pierced on my 15th though. |
| pulmonary archery. Ink Slinger Age: 17 Gender: Female Posts: 985 | gerontophobia.: Technically I'm old enough to get whatever I want done but my mum's a pain so... I'm getting snakebites or one lip piercing when I start college, as well as stretching my lobes to 2g or 0g. ![]() At the moment all I'm 'allowed' is 6g and multiple other cartilage ear piercings. x] |
| C_annibal Ink Slinger Age: 20 Gender: Female Posts: 788 | I am going to get my conch pierced later this year me thinks |
| edgeissxc. Fanfic Fanatic Age: 69 Gender: Female Posts: 2217 | I stretched from 4 to 2g yesterday, it really hurt, much more than it usually does. Is it just because the sizes are getting quite big now? Oh and I've also read that you're meant to be extra careful about 2 - 0g, is that true? Any tips? My ears are quite scared :00 |
