Carrie, properly named Carietta White, is a young girl of sixteen with a remarkable gift - she is telekinetic and can make things happen through thought - transmission.
Carrie uses this gift as a form of revenge, a means of 'getting her own back' on the world. She is repressed by her mother, a religious fanatic; her schoolfriends taunt her. Carrie discovers that her powers are without limit and she decides that nothing is too bad for those who have tried to humiliate her. Finally, her gift leads to disaster and the consequences are chaos and destruction. |

It seemed really interesting and like it'd be a good read.
I'm definitely going to check it out when I get a chance. |

It jumps from the time at which Carrie goes through everything as well as quoting books that were supposedly written after she did...everything.

I like this movie. I watched it earlier today. I love the way they represented Carrie with a skinny girl with freckles everywhere, which make her seem a little... freaky at times.
I don't get her mum. The way she goes nuts at her for having her period... That's a little extreme, no? And also, stabbing her for having telekinesis... Ouch. |

But that's a given. King is a good writer. I love all his books. |

Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 429 | August 31st, 2008 at 02:04am I only read the book, after I saw and intensely loved the movie. The writing style for the book was a bit weird, though, I think I only thought that when I read it because next to the actual story, there's these fictional newspaper articles and such in between. Though, besides that, the story was wonderful. Creepy, obviously, but that's what Stephen King is here to do: creep us out . |
