Anyone want to complain, share stories, or tell me about their 'Wonder Fathers'? |

I can't tell you how many times I've cried over that stupid fucking son-of-a-bitch. First of all, I wish he and my mother would just get a divorce and make the world happier. Wether he'd admit it or not. He hates me. He has the worst temper I've ever seen in my life. I can tell he restrains himself really badly from hitting me, etc.... Sometimes just the look in his eye when he's mad at me (which is all the time), I swear he needs to go to a mental institution. He needs anger managment, and he has literally done damage to my ears because he is the loudest person I have ever met. He is huge and scary, and he just makes me miserable.... He's part of the reason I want to die. |

We get on so well, way better than me and my mother.
We like all the same things, have an open relationship, spend time together and hardly ever fight.
I guess I got really lucky in the Dad department. |

But when he's sober he's the best dad ever.
But he did break my promise, so I've lost trust in him, and I'm leaving him to go live with my mom because she's a better parent figure than him. |

He's given me such good advice about life, helped shape me into the person I am, gotten up at 5am on weekends to take me to horse competitions, even though he gets up at 5am every weekday to go to work in Sydney to send me to a private school and pay for my horse riding, gotten me into different bands, been there to pick me up from all kinds of events, and plus, he's a massive nerd at heart.
My dad's probably one of the people I trust the most.

He chucked a fit in the carpark about how I would never get anywhere with second best, and then drove away and left me there in another city. I was seventeen, and I haven't seen him since.
Personally, I think if you have parents who give you a warm place to sleep, feed and clothe you and are safe to be around, then you shouldn't complain. People who say they 'hate' their parents just because they get disciplined or because, like most people, their parents aren't perfect and have a few personal issues should grow up. In the end, it all comes up pretty juvenile when you grew up having to sleep outside all the time your father wasn't drunk and feed and clothe your little sister on the side. And for that matter, I'm sure there are people whose fathers are even worse than mine. |

Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 1590 | July 17th, 2008 at 01:38pm I think my dad's about to give up on me. He and my mum split up when I was a baby. He lives in Jamaica with his new wife and my mum and I live in England. I can't really call him a bad father because he never really was a father to me. I grew up for about seven years of my life not knowing who my father was and I was fine with that.
Whenever I go to Jamaica I get forced to spend time with him. Time I'm sure he'd rather spend with his friends. I feel like all I'm good for is to be showed off to his friends because I 'go to private school and get good grades'. I didn't ever want to be a trophy. I wanted to be a daughter. |

He can't even stay faithful to his wife, and trhen he expects me to respect him and love him. Even after he threatens me and tries to beat me up. He's nuts. He smashed all our dishes. I feel no love towards him.

It wasn't his fault he left though.
Well, it kind of was, but it wasn't his choice.
He got arrested.
My mum won't tell me why, and she won't let me go and see him.
He's been replaced, she just wants me to forget about him.
But when he was here he was an amazing dad, as far as I can remember. I loved him anyway. |

Age: 17 Gender: Female Posts: 1931 | July 18th, 2008 at 07:04am I loved my dad. He was my best friend and I really miss him. He had so many friends, I remember the whole place was almost filled to bursting at his funeral. Funny story, he hated the soundtrack to the movie Tarzan. See we went to Fire Island once and my mom played the CD on her little Boom Box (this was long before ipods and such). She accidentally set it on repeat and the CD played over and over again for three hours. After that he hated the whole Album.
We have a lot of spiritual beliefs so around the anniversary of his death (this year was the seventh) my mom wrote this little memoir type thing and sent to all our family and friends. She read it to me over the phone while I was in school.
Then one night not long after I was on the computer and I pulled up my itunes library. The first song on the list was unchecked, but I couldn't remember ever having unchecked it. I fixed it and then played the song by accident. I had it set on shuffle so I instinctively clicked on the 'next song' button. The song that came out was 'You'll Be in My Heart' from the Tarzan soundtrack.
I have over 3000 songs in my library, it was right around the anniversary of his death and the meaning of the song itself have convinced me that it was no coincidence. I believe that he was sending me a message. My mom thinks it means his sense of humor has changed since like I said, he hated those songs. |

I just think it's a shame he's stuck with my abusive bitch of a mother...he'll do anything to please her and she throws it back in his face. It's sad. |

He's a good father, I'm a bad daughter and that's what complicates our relationship. But, we're doing okay lately. :] |

Age: 18 Gender: Female Posts: 159 | July 20th, 2008 at 11:59pm I've never met my biological dad. I thought my step-father was my real dad until i was 14 and my brother told me when he was drunk
But me and my step-dad have a love-hate relationship. One moment we'll be joking around and getting along, and then the smallest thing will set him off and he'll be in a mood for the rest of the day. I've kinda gotten used to it though.
In reality, he's not that bad |
