Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 4637 | July 27th, 2008 at 04:39pm When browsing through the forums, I've seen people as young as nine on mibba.
Surely they would be banned? And someone else must have noticed it. These people openly say they're underage, and have obviously lied to make an account, because as far as I remember, you have to click to say you're over 13 or not. I never got a GSB and mibba until I was over 13.
Anyone else noticed this? |

 Age: 12 Gender: Female Posts: 1384 | July 27th, 2008 at 04:43pm I don't think they're really nine.
It's a joke, mostly. Gee's apparently 'nine years old' but she's older, I'm sure.
And I'm twelve. I totally deserve to be here.
Oops.
Plus, don't you think limiting the age group is wrong?
Surely they know what they're facing if they register here? |

And some of the underage people are kidding as Zero pointed out.
My sister's 12 and she has an account. |

Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 4637 | July 27th, 2008 at 04:52pm There's stuff on here which is innapropriate for young people though, and majority of sites have a age limit for safety, and I'm guessing thats part of the Mibba age limit. |

When I first joined Mibba, I was 12-years-old. I didn't lie about my age but I was never banned from the site. I know some more people who were younger than thirteen when they joined, and they, too, have never been banned.
Follow the rules and respect your fellow Mibbians and you're good.
Oh, and isn't Mibba for everyone, seeing that it's a place for writers? It's not like you can't be a writer when you're younger than 13; writers vary in age.

I know that once you join, you're responsible of yourself; the mods and admins are just there to guide you or keep you in track. You know what kind of site you're joining, you know your age, and you know how mature you are.

It's maturity, as they said. You can't go by age. I'm a lot more mature than a lot of people my age, and I know people who as the same age as me who act like they're eight.
One of the editors was twelve up until not long ago (It was her birthday).
People know when they sign up what kind of content is on here. There's ratings on the stories. It's up to them whether or not they choose to sign up.
And people set their ages as like, 9, as a joke. Mine used to be set as 10.

Hence why there's ratings on stories as well. |

I think you can't really tell if someone's below 13. Some are kidding, and even those who aren't, when confronted, can just lie about it and say they were joking, since there's no direct proof to contest it. Unlike dup accounts, with the IP address. So it's like... follow the rules, and you're good. |

Age: 20 Gender: Female Posts: 7809 | July 27th, 2008 at 08:29pm I'm sorry, but most thirteen year olds these days are already having sex and doing more shit than I ever did when I was thirteen, or even fourteen, so I don't protecting people because of their age is a lost cause. Plus we have rating systems, and we can't curse as much. I don't think it is fair to restrict the members by age. Like a bunch of people have said, a lot of 13 year olds are pretty mature. Some have even become editors.
And even some 12 year olds are pretty mature, like Zero up there. I didn't even realize she was 12 until I saw her age and then I thought she was like joking. And also, a bunch of the people who put 9 and 10 and 11 are just kidding. Like Isa up there is...is...shit Isa how old are you again XD you're thing has been 11 for too long I forget XD But she has to be at least....16 or 17. And Jack has his age thing set as 10 and he is....like 16 to. And like I have my age thing set as 22 but I am actually 20. And I know some people have their ages set as 30 and 35 and they aren't. So yeah. |

Age: 12 Gender: Female Posts: 8 | July 27th, 2008 at 08:53pm It all comes down to how mature people are.
Personally, I think that anyone who isn't mature enough to handle some of the stuff on here, probably wouldn't being interested in joining Mibba anyway.
It's unfair to restrict people by age, because then so many people would miss out. I wouldn't be able to join until over a year from now if they DID start beinG strict on the age restrctions...And I think this is a great place, and it's a shame if we keep a whole group of people completely out of it. |

That's what I remember, but Dru's probably right with saying that you need a parent's permission if you're under thirteen. |

Exactly.
Plus, if they are under the age of 13 as long as they have read and understand the rules and abide by them, they shouldn't be banned.

Age: 14 Gender: Female Posts: 13048 | July 29th, 2008 at 11:45am Ahaha. I joined when I was 12, and I posed as a hxc 15 year old for like a month a two. Then I realized this place meant much more to me than just another site to fool around on, so I turned 12. Heh.
I'm 13 now, and I'm a story editor so..
Age isn't really the greatest way to determine someone's maturity or reliability.

Age: 14 Gender: Female Posts: 862 | July 29th, 2008 at 07:37pm My brother's nearly 30 and he's the most immature person I've ever met. My friend Lucy, on the other hand, is 11, and incredibly mature. Age has nothing to do with it.
And that 9 year old you saw on here. I think their Mibba is that of there main character in a story they have. I don't think that's their real age. |
