I personally don't think it is worth to make a fuss about wether 11, 12 or 10 year olds are on Mibba. As long as they stick to the rules it is absolutely okay and just because they are younger doesn't mean they aren't fun to talk to Wink
I know quite some younger kids on here and they are fun as hell Cute

The only thing I am confused about is the age. Some people are according to their age 69 or 32 lmfao. I think it would be cooler if they show their real age, even if they are 9 or 10.

Age on here shouldn't be a concern for anyone.

I'm 13 and completely immature.
Whereas my 7 year old cousin is too mature for her age.

It just counts on skill, behaviour and maturity.
If a 9 year old was on here and wrote an amazing piece of writing, would you tell them not to post it and let the world know their skills purely for age reasons?

Would you want people to ban you from a site because you joined when you were nine.
If someone wants to join at a younger age, then that's their concern.
Mibba warns you when you signup and you have warnings on stories rated PG-13 and above.

It really isn't any of your business telling people who should sign up and who shouldn't. (:

It's not really a rule. I think they have to put it there when you make an account due to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, but I'm not sure.

There's stuff on here which is innapropriate for young people though, and majority of sites have a age limit for safety, and I'm guessing thats part of the Mibba age limit.

Yeah but everyone knows what they're getting into
hence the story and poem ratings.
and thats more than myspace can say.
so i like it here.
I dont think the age limit should be thirteen
like 10 maybe?
most people on here, as im sure you've noticed, are quite mature for their age.

I joined when I was 12. I just turned 13 a couple weeks ago. I came here because I left quizilla. I've never been banned.

It just has to do with maturity.

"There's stuff on here which is inappropriate for young people though, and majority of sites have a age limit for safety, and I'm guessing thats part of the Mibba age limit."

I really haven't seen one inapproriate thing on here since I've been here.

"Plus, if they are under the age of 13 as long as they have read and understand the rules and abide by them, they shouldn't be banned. "

Exactly. Like I said, it has to do with maturity, not age. I was young when I read my first slash. I was 8 or 9. My mom doesn't know abou Mibba, but she wouldn't care. Though she would want to read my stories, and I think I can speak for everyone with moms like that when I say that that is not going to happen.

Yeah, thats the only reason my mom doesnt know.
She thinks i only go on here to look at my friends stuff
theres no way in hell id tell her im a writer...

When I first joined I pretended I was 16 and then I was just like "Screw this, this place is actually fun." And I then I said I was eleven, then I turned twelve and I'll be thirteen very soon and I will rejoice that I'm legal Mibba age and then whatever.

I don't think people should be banned for it if they're following the rules and respecting your fellow Mibbians.

But the FTC can charge them, since there are people on here who are saying that they are not 13 and whatnot.
It'd just be easier, if they took the box away.
But since they can't, people should just put their real age up, and get over it.
Maturity not included, like someone else said if you can handle it fine, lie about your age until you turn 13.

Some people wouldn't feel comfortable about putting their real age up though.

^But they feel comfortable talking to random people who only share a few common interests with them from all around the world?
Or that could possibly live next door?
And yet they can't just say 'yes,I'm 19 through twenty something. And I like to write, and what not.'.
I mean most of us don't have our address up on our pages, we don't have the exact city or location of where we live.
You're not giving out your social security number.
And if they havn't learned by now, not to tell strangers that type of personal information.
They shouldn't be on the internet period.

Does age really even have to do with who they talk to? I mean, as long as their mature enough it shouldn't matter.

If they're not comfortable to even talk to other people on the internet, I doubt they'd be on it. The least we can do is give them a good experience without them feeling like they're not wanted because they don't have their real age up.

^So now they're not wanted because their real age is up?
When I was 13, and I would be on other sites like this or quizilla.
I figured the older you were the sillier you looked.
Obviously my thinking has changed, or I would have long ago stopped using these sites for writing.
Regardless if they're wanted or not, it doesn't matter.
Since they are obviously wanted, seeing as how no one has deleted their accounts; or forced them to put up their real age.
The FTC can still say 'pay up', and have with many other websites.
They don't care about maturity, obviously we don't either or else some people would have been deleted by now.

I mean are parents really watching as you read stories with profanity in them and sex scenes?
No, because most of these 'underage accounts' are the ones writing them.

I wasn't accusing you of saying that.
It's the way it's going to come off to some of the 'underage' users. It's just a simple fact. It was stated by one a few pages back. Shifty

If Dujo was worried about it, he would ban underage users.

^Let me rephrase my former post.
I didn't take it as you were accusing me of saying that.
I was speaking in a general sense.
When we say underage, it sounds like we're speaking of drinking or smoking.
I think that people should just get over it, put your real age up.

I was just stating some of the other sites that have been taken to court because of this subject.

I don't see why it's important to know someone's real age. As it's been said a million times, your age doesn't define your maturity or personality.

My age used to be set as nineteen. Not because I was trying to seem older/more mature, but because it was an inside joke and I just like that number.

People don't need to tell everyone their real age. Just as long as when someone says "How old are you?" you don't lie about it. Because that is childish. Smiley

Just put no age then?
That is what I have done.

I don't think people need to know my age,
I am older than thirteen and younger than nineteen.

I want people to talk to me for me and not my age.

^I haven't put an age, either. But if someone wanted to put 18 when they're really 12, it doesn't matter. I mean, if you decide to talk to someone, it's not going to be just because of how old they are. It'll most probably be because of something they've said.

Same as you're not going to stop talking to someone just because they're younger than you thought they were originally.

Erm, I'm 10.

XD

I agree with all of you, it depends on maturity. We should be more responsible and patient before going into sites like this. Age doesn't matter as long as you know how to react with different kinds of people. Cute

As long as they aren't doing anything bad, I don't see anything wrong with younger Mibbians. Cute

^ Agreed. Smile Some of the younger mibbians might feel a bit uncomfortable with putting their actual age up, and keep it as thirteen or not set it at all. I was uncomfortable with my age and didn't show it 'til I learned to build a bridge and get over it, it doesn't matter who knows how old you are, just as long as your mature and responsible about it. I'm mumbling now, I'll stop. tehe
