I don't know if this is spam but this is exactly why I don't put my age as visible because I could be 5 and write something good but because I am not 16 or 17 they'll try to find any mistakes in it.
Or at least in my perspective.
Or like in more mature conversations if you are 9 they won't really pay a lot of attention to what you are saying instead of the person that age is 20.
My birthday is coming in August 25th so I'll be 14. Very Happy

I'm fourteen and I don't really think I've ever not been taken seriously here.
Unless I was saying something stupid to begin with.
... And I have a Brum theme.

So I don't think not being taken seriously is really a problem.

The whole reason why I made this was that I thought you had to be 13 years or older, from the box you have to click when you signed up. Thats what confused me that people could put their ages down so low.
I didn't mean for anyone to get offended from it, and I know about maturity. But on the whole maturity thing, you could take an immature boy from my year at school, and they'd concentrate if they were writing a story about something they loved.

That's where it comes down to breaking the law.
It's called the Childrens' Privacy Act.
Xanga was made to pay 1.5 million dollars because of that little box that says yes I am 13 years or older; by the FTC.
Because of just what your point is, people were checking that box, but openly stating and setting their age to 9 and so-on under the age of 13.
That's why myspace stops the age at 16.
Even though you can still make one, you have to set your age at 16 when siging up, or set your profile to private.
It has nothing to do with maturity, it's technically a law.
And if you don't remember Xanga it was just a blog site.
This is stories and other things that a parent can stumble upon, and take to court. So yes, they should be banned to avoid something like that. You can blame the little nerd who screwed it up for you all that aren't 13 yet.
Not her for making a valid and true point.

OMFG Correct me if I'm wrong, but does that mean Mibba could get closed down if an11 year old or whatever joined and their parents sued?

That is very much a real possibility.
Which is probably why a lot of people don't want their parents to look at things on here really, because they might sue and get it shut down.
That kid wouldn't be very popular with the rest of us, really.

Ditto.
Let's just hope those kids are smart enough to not let their parents read the highly graphic sex scenes.

If they did that..they are stupid, seriously. You just have to turn on the TV and there are sex scenes and other sexual stuff. And on TV you can even see pictures, yet here on Mibba all you can do is use your own imagination File Cool

It's not even a matter of parents really.
The FTC just searches around on the internet for sites not following guidlines.

It would just start an uproar of parents finding out about this site, and what their kids do and read on it.

But like most of you have said, unless someone is being completely ignorant. Like the other stories you see on television, there's a small chance of that happening.

I don't see that happening.
I sure as hell know Dujo would put up a fight if that happened, though.

I better stop my mum from singing then... xD

What's wrong with Opera? OMG NO!

You're right though, Dujo wouldn't let Mibba die like that, 'cause he'd have hoards of teenage girls to deal with afterwards, rioting. And a couple of teenage guys.

I must say although it would be awful, it would be really cool to meet him.

Why would the parents sue?
Shouldn't they deal with the child first?

That's what I was thinking.. I was going over it, and I was thinking 'Why would the parents sue a website that has no control over who joins (age-wise) instead of punishing the actual child?'

I think we're good, unless some mega-rich jerk of a parent likes to sue amazing sites for fun, on their spare time. File

Well, if they sued they could make some money. Shifty Not to say that every parent that found out would sue Mibba or that money is always a motivation, but people will sue for ridiculous reasons just so they can make some money.

I dunno. I think it'd be very unfair to restrict underage users, but then again I really don't want Mibba shut down. o-o

There are underage kids on very dangerous sites, such as Myspace for example. Mibba is a almost completely harmless site.. Except for the occasional mind-blowing adult naughty scene in stories, but that's beyond the point.

I think if parents found out if their kid was on Mibba, they would be relieved that they're here (where all the members are kind and not fat guys who want to rape little kids), instead of Myspace (complete different). Cute

Thinking can do wonders for an opinion. tehe *points to above posts*
