Personally, I think the murder is fascinating.
Then again, I find a lot of sick things fascinating.
Now discuss it. |

-shudder-
Pretty creepy. Did they ever find out who did it? |

I believe the case is still open, so no, though a number of suspects and theories have been proposed, none have been accepted as fact. |

I read the case was closed.

Wikipedia:The body of Elizabeth Short was found on January 15th, 1947, in Leimert Park, Los Angeles, severely mutilated, cut in half, and drained of blood. Her face was slashed from the corners of her mouth toward her ears. |

I read the case was closed.
The Black Dahlia Murder Wikipedia:The Black Dahlia murder investigation by the LAPD was the largest since the murder of Marion Parker in 1927, and involved hundreds of officers borrowed from other law enforcement agencies. Because of the complexity of the case, the original investigators treated every person who knew Short as a suspect who had to be eliminated. Hundreds of people were considered suspects and thousands were interviewed by police. Sensational and sometimes inaccurate press coverage, as well as the nature of the crime, focused intense public attention on the case. About 60 people confessed to the murder, mostly men, as well as a few women. As the case continues to command public attention, many more people have been proposed as Short's killer.
No theory is universally accepted, and none has been proven.
That's what led me to believe that the case was still open.
It probably just went cold, though; they wouldn't let such a big case close without anyone convicted of the crime.
I don't know, I probably missed something. |

My bad.
It was probably when I read about it before and it said the case was closed and later reopened. I googled whether or not the case was open and it stated that the case was still open with the LAPD. But, 60 years after the murder I doubt they'll find the murderer. |

But, 60 years after the murder I doubt they'll find the murderer. I don't know about that. I've read about some cases - though I can't name them off the top of my head - that were closed after quite a number of decades. It all depends on whether the evidence is/was kept properly and what technology can be used at the time/is admissable as evidence in court when/if they find the killer. And whether said killer is still alive. Even if the murderer was dead when the LAPD found the truth, the closure that would come with the answer would be enough to leave everyone affected feeling relieved. |

If they solved this case I'd actually start to have some kind of confidence in the law. Mind you it wouldn't be much. But the case has been dead (at least I say that because there hasn't been any reliable leads, etc.) for 61 years and the body was so mutilated. Ugh, I hate to think about how the person who found the body first felt. |

Same as the Zodiac case, it's been dead for quite a time but they have to catch him one day. You can only run for so long before the law catches up. |

Granted, by like you said before the murderer could either be dead which is quite possible. Seeing as I doubt the murderer was younger than at least 20 when they murdered Elizabeth which would place them at at least 80, now. Then again I could be wrong about the murderer's age.
For all we know the person who murdered her could have been murdered himself (not implying it was a guy...) by a close friend/relative of Elizabeth if the friend knew who murdered her. I'm probably just rambling and it didn't happen, but whatever. |

If that makes any sense whatsoever. |

Because that's how I feel about it.
The case itself is almost as confusing as most psychopaths.
Well, yeah.
The crime wasn't exactly committed by a sane person.
I mean, no sane person cuts a person in half, mutilates the body, drains the body of blood, and cuts their cheeks. |

So, I can see the comparison there. |

Not a sight for weak stomached people, that I can assure you.
I wish I had never opened that link sometimes....
This case fascinates me though. |
