But anyways, how far did you go just for your instrument?
This is the furtherest I went:
I used to be really interested in the Trombone and Tuba. I even made a deal with my band teacher to let me play them both. She agreed as long as I purchased my own Trombone. (That hurt the old piggy bank) But I did it. At the time it didn't occur to me that I wasn't allowed large instruments on my school bus. -_- So that meant I had to walk home everyday from school with my Tuba and Trombone. With my Trombone on my back and Tuba in hand I walked the uphill journey of 3 Km. Lets just say in the end I got really good at both of them AND got buff! |

The furthest I went for a keyboard, was, I went to my grans house and somehow managed to sneak the keyboard into the car. My dad was like, "What the hell is that?" And I went, "Grans keyboard."
Took it back and he got me one. |

And I've used it as a pillow so no-one would steal it while we were sleeping at an airport.
Good times. |

I used to take my acoustic guitar to school with me twice a week.
Other than that they collect dust at the moment. |

Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 287 | August 22nd, 2008 at 09:20pm I play the oboe, and a few years ago I had to take an exam. I didn't bother buying the book with my exam piece in it, cause as you know books are too pricey. So I had a photocopy. And in exams they don't let you play from photocopied music, because it's illegal to photocopy music.
So I had to go to this girl Rebecca's house, because she has the book. I walked about 3 miles, including uphill, on the hottest day of the year, in my Converse high-tops with no socks...
It was so painful... I actually could barely walk for a week... |

Age: 14 Gender: Female Posts: 13 | August 31st, 2008 at 03:55am I used to play Clarinet but it's beyond repair now, since it's like what? 40 years old? I had my eye set on playing Horn, so i got a newspaper route, 6 to be exact, and got 1000 dollars that one month i did it, my mom wouldn't let me continue after that... So i started mowing lawns, that got me bout 200.
1000+200=1200
1600-1200=400
Where was that money going to come from? Washing dishes at 3 different rest runts AND stealing cable... joking, no cable. So in the end i did all of that to get my precious Horn... and my bus didn't allow large instrument either, so i had to walk 4.5 k to my house, which was all up hill with my backpack full of school work, Clarinet, before it died, and my Horn. But then i started to play Rugby after school and got a ride in the last 3 months of school. And i'm 'bout to start grade nine with it XD |

Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 22 | November 30th, 2008 at 08:31am When I haven't bought my guitar, I borrowed it from my friend that lives somewhat close by me( about 1 1/4km?) I have to pass by four bus stops. But after school, I have to carry my heavy school bag and some files plus the guitar. I walk near the forest area and my feet almost cracked by the time I got home(its a long, bended way up the road). I repeated this for a few times until my Dad bought me one.
But I've been thinking, if my father didn't bought me one, I would carry on. |
