Age: 14 Gender: Female Posts: 23 | August 20th, 2008 at 01:25am All the Hollywood movies send chills down the spines of soon-to-be Freshmen.
People joke about how they are going to get the Freshies with diabolical jokes, but my brother tells me that it's all just an urban myth. If anyone touches you, bad things will happen.
So, I've got to know: is there such thing as Freshie Initiation or is just a bunch of bull-s*it?
For those who have acutally commited a right of passage for the Freshies, what on Earth did you do to them? |

I mean, we're kind of rough to them (especially sophomores like myself, since we recently survived the torture and are eager to have our revenge), but it's nothing more than verbal insults, many of them of a joking nature. Nothing physical, no "initiation".
If anyone tries to get you or hurt you, they'll get in a world of trouble, fast. No need to worry. |

Total myth.
It's just a technique that's been used for decades to scare the shit out of naive kids by both older kids and adults. >.>
The only "abuse" is mild verbal insults. |

Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 429 | August 20th, 2008 at 05:26am That's a myth; movies just amplify all that pretend shit, none of it really happens.
The closest my school has ever come to was 'Kick A Freshmen Day', which only lasted for about two hours before the teachers and principals found out, and suspended anyone who took part in the kicking. Most 'abuse' the portray in movies would be illegal anyway, and get the abuser in deep shit with the law...or at least that's how it is here. |

Age: 17 Gender: Female Posts: 3325 | August 20th, 2008 at 06:11am It's never happened at my school; but that's partly because the Freshman have already been at the school for 2 years. (It runs 7-12th grade).
When we were going to the high school in 7th, the only thing we were told was not to believe anyone who said your class was on the third floor, but you'd have to be really stupid to have fallen for that. =/ |

Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 365 | August 20th, 2008 at 07:40am We have Freshie-Week at my school.
When I was a Freshman, we got paddled, put through car washes, etc.
But, it was worth it, at the end of the week; we went to a Freshie-Party and got totally drunk and crashed at the party. I can't wait until Freshie-Week..
But, not a lot of schools have Freshie-Week apparently, so there's not much to worry about. |

But my friends from Ontario are scared shitless of starting school because they keep getting these threats about getting, like, beaten. |

But that's about it.
Though, two years before I hit high school, I heard the seniors threw batteries at the freashmen at a pep rally. |

The only things that freshmen get in my school is periodic verbal abuse. |

Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 55 | August 27th, 2008 at 01:59am No one actually does anything to the freshman. The most done at my school's is chants, such as "go home freshman", at assembelies and football games. Most upperclassmen at least have one friend that is a freshman, so it really all is just in fun. |

I don't know what my high school is going to be like. A lot of the time freshmans get minor verbal abuse or a few shoves from what I've heard, nothing too serious though. I think it's like that with a lot of schools and the hollywood movie crap is a load of BS. |

No one ever does anything to the freshmen, pretty much if your a freshmen(which I am) at my school you can ask anyone at my school almost everyone will help you. Except my tech teacher who hates freshmen but likes 9th graders, I'll let you figure that one out. |
