Writing Topics

  • Some people write about personal experiences, others about things they wish could have happened. There's a range of different genre's of stories/ poems/ songs ect. What topics do you write about?

  • Hmm good question. I honestly don't know why I picked the genre I am in (gay romantic drama or something like that XD). I don't really think about the genre when I first write the story, I think I more about the message I am trying to send, or the plot line. But I guess if I had to catagorize myself, most of my stories are Romantic Drama, however I am trying to get into Horror right now.

  • this may sounds strange, but when i'm just out with my friends or watching a movie or doing anything, really, my mind will begin to wander. And when it does this, it starts looking and seeing things as if it were a movie, like little snippits of a film. not from a real movie, but if we're talking about something, i may be watching a little film in my head of what it would look like, and that's where it turns into a story. that's how i get my ideas to write, if that made any sense whatsoever

  • It depends. Sometimes a line just sticks in my head and I have to write it, like with "That Sunday In April".

    Sometimes it's a song.

The History Channel, more than I'd like to admit.

  • I mostly like writing reality based stories...about ordinary people. Because really that's all I'll ever know. I think everything I write is something I wish could happen. I guess that's why I write it because there's no other way for it to be. Except daydreaming. And that's not good enough. When I actually do write, I can't stop. I hate having these things dreams trapped in my mind so writing is the best way to release them. I suppose I could say I'm 'imaginative' because that's all I ever do; dream. I guess I'm rambling...so I'll stop, k? :retard:

  • I usually use one of two methods, depending on the story.

    Method One:
Take something that has happened with one of my friends, or someone I know, or even the most recent gossip at school, and put a character into it. Maybe exaggerate it a bit, but not so much that it seems impossible.
Point Me Towards Tomorrow is written in this method.

    Method Two:
Find an object that means a lot to me. A locket, a music box, anything. Start writing a simple scene around that object, and try to then make a simple plot from that scene. Then put the scene or two away for a few weeks, then come back after yo've had time to think about it. Works like a charm, for me.

  • I kind of get random bits snapping into my mind. When I'm bored or when I'm not, mostly when i'm bored. When I'm bored i think and my imagination kind of gets the best of me.

  • A lot of thinks can make me want to write. I can be listening to music and a specific tune or lyric will do it. Other times random words or pictures.
But I gotta say, songs do it for me more than anything.

Same. Music is a great guide into getting out what you want to way.

  • Music is a great one and somehow lines will work themselves into what I write. It can sound really corny sometimes, but the piece can mean more to me that way.
Also, when I read work by either other people here, in books or elsewhere, I will start thinking about what I would do to make it better. Then it becomes a dream in my head, something I wish would happen, and the best way to get it out and make it good is to write.
I really like being able to post what I write, from now on, in this site. It's out there for someone besides me, and I love getting feedback.

  • I'm a useless writer.
I get ideas, and I can't put them into words.
I'm stuck on a story at the moment. (Eugh.)
I get my ideas, mostly from songs, I guess. Sometimes I get ideas from actual situations I've been in, or feelings and thoughts I've had.

  • When I'm not writting fanfics I actually write a lot of short stories WOW GO Me.
I write mostly about Double suicide between star-crossed lovers, I usually get the Ideas listening to music, or something completely what I'd like to write about like the one I'm working on now where this history geek is like gonna kill people using his favorite weapons throught history (which happen to be my fave weapons throught history).

  • The other day I got inspiration from a movie title I saw.
I didn't even watch the movie, but the title stuck with me.

  • Music...definitely music.

And I lie awake at night a fair amount, so I watch the clock tick and wait. Usually something comes to me if I don't think about anything.

  • I get my inspiration from anything and everything. Music, books, stories, movies, personal experiences, life, others' experiences, news, random thoughts... anything.
My most recent poem (Living Dream) is about a time when I got so deep into thought I forgot about myself.
Usually, when I feel writers' block, talking to my friends helps. I think I have this issue where I can't write if I'm feeling super depressed. I have some depressing poetry and stuff, but those usually come from a more contemplative mood.
So yeah, I'm a writer at heart. EVERYTHING makes me write!

  • I like to use song lyrics....i do that a lot in my one-shots. Or in some cases...I try to write a story based on the song... I wrote one story called "Demolition Lovers" and the song was of great inspiration for that story.....if anyone would like to read it....PM me...cause I'm not gonna post it on Mibba.....But yeah, "Demoliton Lovers" is exactly like the song....and of course with inspiration from the movie "Natural Born Killers"

Sometimes I also use personal experiences. I have a one-shot called "Cubicles" which was a true event that happened to me. and I even worked in lyrics to the song "Cubicles" to it.....

I also use movies, and try to make my own version. My story "You're Not In Thie Alone" is almost like my version of the MCR DVD "Life On the Murder Scene" I wrote it like I was there, and if you read it....I actually use parts from the DVD (IE: Sept. 11th, and Gerard's alcoholism)

Umm...I guess that's all I have to say....

I also write because it's basically the only outlet I have for what I'm feeling - I don't really talk to anyone about what's going on in my life, so when I write it feels like I'm telling someone.
