I go to an international school in Germany, and we're part of the IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization).

Anyone else go to an IB school? And if they do; does anyone else think that the Extended Essay and CAS points are absolutely pointless?

I study French at a private school in Sydney, and my friend and I were offered spots at an international school where they do the IBO. I was going to go, as it would have been very interesting, and it would have been an amazing opportunity and a great experience, but it was very expensive, and I'd been at my school since Kindy, and I didn't want to leave for year 11 & 12.

Cool xD I probably wouldn't have gone either if I was given the choice. It's so much hard work v_v And really annoying, too.
But then again, I wasn't given a choice so it doesn't really matter [x

I am being offered in when I got into Yr 12, so what you're saying is that you wouldn't want to do the IB again if you had the option?

^ It does seem like a lot of work. You have to do a certain amount of hours of extra-curricular subjects also.

We had a form of IB in my school, which I was apart of. BUt I don't think it was as strict as the real IB Program- which they are now trying to introduce. I did have to keep my average at around a 90 (3.0 I think in GPA standards? maybe, something around that. Maybe a 3.5 I don't know). And I took AP English Writing, AP English Lit, and AP History. Also,I had to take Physics. But it wasn't strict or demanding.

My school just got accepted to be one. I really don't like their style and methods. D:

But it's only for the 7 to 9's not 10-12's so, I'm safe (:

We have a Baccalaureate exam here. It's a lot like IB only the subjects are a bit changed. The vary depending on your class profile.
You don't have to do the extended essay here, but most exams consist of writing essays. There also are two or three -depending on your native language, here if you're an ethnic minority, you can study in your own language- oral exams though together with five or six -again depending on your nationality- written exams.
But there's no extended essay.

And since I'm in a humanities profile class I don't have to take maths or experimental sciences, I take an other foreign or classical language and history in return.

I get the chance to do this in year 12.
I don't really think it appeals to me though.

Yes, the IB stuff is absolutely pointless. I mean, when (in real life) am I going to need to write an EE?

IB is far better than the crap we get given at school here.

I wish my school offered IB.

Here IB is offered to gufted students of some 'failing' schools instead of A-Levels.

I know someone who did it because he went to a shitty school. He flew through it and was university educated at Oxford.
