| Geesecks. Fanfic Fanatic Age: 22 Gender: Female Posts: 3004 | ^ Yeah, it was a reliable source. There were a lot of pictures of it. That wasn't the only one, but I didn't want to spam the thread with too many pictures. It doesn't surprise me, to be honest. I've never really gotten the feeling from him that he cares too much about America. ![]() |
| Slaying the Dreamer Ink Slinger Age: 20 Gender: Female Posts: 782 | Unsightful Darkness: I seriously doubt that. Just the other day, I was watching the news and it said the troops will be in Irag until at least 2010. |
| Geesecks. Fanfic Fanatic Age: 22 Gender: Female Posts: 3004 | Slaying the Dreamer: Yeah, people assume that he'll just snap his fingers and all the soldiers will be home. It's not that simple- not by a long shot. Even if this war ends, who's to say there won't be another? There's pretty much always a war the US is involved with. Bush isn't the first president to be in office during a war that the US didn't belong in. |
| the endless. Fanfic Fanatic Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 2623 | Geesecks.: Of course there will be a war sometime in the future. That really doesn't mean anything. But we entered this war under false pretenses and it's draining our funds and either way we shouldn't be in Iraq. Obama will be withdrawing troops - it doesn't really matter how long it'll take in comparison with McCain's stance, which would not remove any troops. Geesecks.: Pictures are very easy to fake. ![]() |
| Kurtni O'Hara Database Error Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 3415 | Geesecks.:I doubt any intelligent supporter of Obama thinks that, seeing as how he has never stated his withdrawal will be instant- he knows it won't, but that doesn't stop him from getting the motions going. It''s sad how much the Bush administration has drilled into peoples heads that we have to be in Iraq, to the point where people don't even realize we can leave. Geesecks.: What was this reliable source? The picture you posted didn't work- I'd love to see them all. |

| Bloodraine Fanfic Fanatic Age: 17 Gender: Female Posts: 1329 | Okay, so being that I'm British, I'm going to give my opinion on Obama, whether it matters or not. I think Obama would be good for the US in terms of foreign relations. Speaking personally, the one criticism I have of Americans is that they seem somewhat insular. Which I can understand; when you're the most powerful nation in the world, it can be hard to realise that smaller nations matter too. But Obama seems to bring a global perspective, which I think will help to improve relations with the EU and the rest of the world. Compared to how unpopular Bush is in Europe, seeing the reception Obama got in Germany is quite extraordinary. His talk of a more equal anglo-American partnership is also promising from my perspective. I don't know a great deal about his policies but what I can say is that I think Barack Obama would improve the way the world views America. Oh, and the fact that people are criticising him and his wife for not being 'patriotic' enough is ludicrous, in my eyes. Of course he gives a damn about America if he's willing to take on the crazy job of running it. But then again, I don't come from a very patriotic country. I wouldn't expect potential leaders to prostrate themsleves before the flag to be considered truly patriotic. |
| feliz flea Grammar Guru Age: 16 Gender: Female Posts: 6117 | I'm not racist, but you all probably have heard it. Forty some or whatever years ago Bobby Kennedy said that forty years from now the world won't be ready for a black president; and its true. Besides, when he was trying to beat our Hilary Clinton he just sat there and bad mouthed her the whole way through. Now she's his vice president, how the hell does that just happen? Do we really want someone who's going to go on about something one day, and completely change his mind the next? |
| Finding_Forever Writer's Block Age: 14 Gender: Male Posts: 32 | Personally, i do not like either canidates atm. My view on the war, is that, I believe we should get what we need to get done as soon as possible. I actually don't think it's a good idea to pull out immediatly. I believe Obama simply has his head in the clouds. I think he is very charismatic, but i think we need to have a president who has his/her feet on the ground. |

Obama's political career is famous for being extremely clean, I don't think he has excessively bad mouthed any opponent. ayo flea:Well ah, no, shes not his vice actually. No vice has been announced, thats a completely false statement. |
| Coldwind4 Cliché Catastrophe Age: 14 Gender: Female Posts: 334 | On Obama...I'm not really sure to be honest. I'm too young to vote, and I'm still deciding my opinions on things, (actually, my opinions really couldn't be associated with either party, I'll probably be independent when I'm older) and because of that I really have no right to say whether I'd like him to be our president or not. But at the same time, I must say: like others have said, it concerns me that race is a big issue. Same as the Hillary Clinton being the first woman president when she was running, Barack Obama being black really should have nothing to do with why you choose him. But I've seen some people saying they are voting for him *because* of his race, as well as saying they WON'T vote for him because of it. Both are wrong and biased. It should be about who you think is qualified for the job, not what their race is. Whether you vote for him or not, it should be on who you think will do the best. My parents don't like him, but there are a lot of opinions they have that I don't agree with, so I don't know. Politics are a grey area for me. |
| Northrax Writer's Block Age: 14 Gender: Male Posts: 49 | If I was American (which i', not) and of voting age (which i'm not) i'd definatly vote Obama. I believe he will do better for the US than Bush has done, and definately better for the US than what McCain could do. I think Obama will easily win in November the way things are going for McCain now anyway. |
| I Rock Writer's Block Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 76 | I'm 100% for OBamma I was sooo happy that he won against Clinton I did NOT want her to win. I just really hope he wins against McCain! McCain is just another Bush! But knowing our skrewed up sociaty, McCain will most likely win -_- Well, at least Saturday Night Live will have someone to make fun of |
| Missing Wings. Cliché Catastrophe Age: 14 Gender: Female Posts: 488 | Slaying the Dreamer: Today, Good Morning American said 2011, for another 4 years because he has to be safe about it. This is a little off subject but did anyone hear about Mcain's 10 houses? And that he didn't even know how many he had, he had to ask someone. |
| the endless. Fanfic Fanatic Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 2623 | ^ I think it will probably be a slow withdrawal. They wouldn't want to wrench out all the troops suddenly, it would throw the area into even more chaos. And yeah, I heard about the houses thing. And how at that Religion forum last week when asked what "rich" was, McCain said 2 million or something, while Obama said $250K. I think that any politician will be pretty out of touch with middle America, but McCain would definitely be more so than Obama. |
| Beelzebub. Grammar Guru Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4164 | Obama's not really ending the war ![]() He said that, yes, he plans to take the troops out of Iraq eventually; in however many years he's decided on. He says that loudly because he knows that's what America wants to hear. However, what he doesn't say very loudly at all is that he doesn't plan to send all troops home but move many to Afghanistan. In reality, he's just moving the war. He says it's to balance out the American troop number differences between Iraq and Afghanistan, but either way, in a way: he's increasing war efforts. Not decreasing them. McCain of course plans to do the same but he outright says it, doesn't BS the American people by screaming what they want to hear and mumbling what they don't. An article that summarizes Obama's plans. Another article in the New York Times that kind of summarizes it, but not as well. A third article if you're that interested from MSNBC that mentions McCain more. A lot of people are voting for him solely because he says he's going to send troops home. They don't see his true plans. He's very, very charismatic and has the ability to only make you hear what you want to hear and forget what you don't. Edit: He chose his VP. Joe Biden, democrat and Senator from Delaware. |

| Mad in the blood. Cliché Catastrophe Age: - Gender: - Posts: 541 | I'm a Hillary fangirl, I admit, but now that she's out I'm definitely rooting for Obama. I think he could bring about a lot of change in this country, and he's inspired a lot of people to actually become active in politics. The only thing I'm worried about is experience--that's why I liked Hillary, because she had so much experience and she had proven she was very good at her job. I'm hoping that having Biden as a VP will add experience, because that's what a lot of people were criticizing him for, and potentially that's what could destroy his campaign. But still, I absolutely love him now. He's converted me for this election, although I will still be rooting for Hillary if she ever decides to run again. (Like I said, I'm a fangirl.) |
