The discussion forums are intended to be used as a place for intelligent conversations to occur between Mibba’s users. In order for this section to function effectively, there are a few simple guidelines you need to follow before creating threads or posting:

1. You must include information when you create a thread.
When starting a new thread you have to explain your topic in the first post. You can include links, pictures, quotes- whatever you need to explain your topic so that other users understand the intention of the thread. A thread with a one sentence first post is not acceptable. Threads will be locked if they don't meet this requirement.

2. Your posts must contribute to the discussion.
In the discussion forums, posts must be meaningful. That means one word replies and blank quotes are not allowed. If you’re posting that you agree with someone, you must do more than quote them and say “I agreee.” You have to add something to the discussion, and do more than repeat. Discussion forums are not a place to bump your post count.

3. You understand your posts are open to criticism.
All of Mibba’s users are welcome to post their opinions and thoughts in the discussion forum, and when you do so you acknowledge the fact that users can reply to your post and disagree. However, there is no need to make a disagreement personal.

4. All discussions should remain respectful.
Expressing and discussing opposing opinions is perfectly acceptable, but a disagreement should never turn into patronizing another user (calling someone "dear" or "sweetheart" ) or making insulting statements. Insulting another user will result in account termination and is never tolerated on any part of the board.

5. Put threads in the correct forum.
There are multiple forums in the discussion section to organize threads, making them easy to find. Please acknowledge this when you make threads and think about the forum you choose. A thread about animal testing shouldn't be in the life forum, but in the science forum for example. Please do not use the Mibba forum to ask questions about the site, use our Help forum for that.

In addition to those, standard board rules of course apply. Search for duplicate threads, no spam or off-topic posts, no chat speak, use proper grammar, etc.

What if the first post is self explanatory or really informative, ie asking people to post experiences, etc.

And thank you for saying number two! I hate it when somebody says something and someone else quotes it and says "Yes, listen to her. She's right." and nothing else.

^^To the first, yes. Depending on the severity of the matter, it may result in an all around banning too.

To the second, no.

Thanks!

Also... What if people don't see this? Like, it's all pretty much just common sense; but what if they don't see it? They can still get banned, right?

I do believe they can. There is no way of telling if someone has read them or not. If the admins believed everyone who said they did't read them, well then eveyrone would be getting off scott free.

Don't assume anything is self-explanatory. Chances are, there is someone who won't get what you're talking about. If you can't think of any way to explain the topic yourself, post links to sites containing information on your subject.

Great, now I actually have some to follow. I might've done 2 once or twice.

Constructive discussion is what I'm getting from this post. Smile

^ Use punctuation on the boards.
Other wise if you don't, it's counted as chatspeak and could get you banned from the boards.
