I think people dislike them more due to the fact that they are "mainstream" and you can see many people wearing it.
I just dislike the clothing because, well, nothing seems different. Nothing seems interesting. I like to wear things that have an interesting look to it. Plus, the clothing doesn't appeal to me at all. The people I know that wear it have no idea how to wear their clothes so that it actually looks attractive rather than just throw up, so that's another [stupid] reason why I don't like it.

I have other reasons, too, but I don't think it's really necessary for me to state every single reason.

I hate how people think this tore is for preppies only. It is so not. In Canada, Hollister is associated wih AP magazine..and a bunch of other rock bands. But I don't like it so much because most of their stuff is just tshirts that say 'Hollister' or 'Abercrombie & Fitch'. I don't understand why my sister likes it so much =\ but some and only a bit of their stuff is nice, like, in the guys section, they have cool button up tees. Yes, I tend to shop in the guys section tehe

Some of their stuff is really nice, comfortable and pretty well priced...I don't like it when it's just a white t-shirt with the logo on it, but when they have like designs on them with the logo or when they are plain with the little animal on them. I think those are kind of cute as long as they aren't costing me 35$.

Everyone in my school wears Hollister and Abercrombie.
It gets really old.
Although, I'm not one to talk. I wear jeans and a t-shirt everyday.

Meh.
Way overpriced. And the clothes aren't of the greatest quality.

I don't wear their clothes because they don't fit me, I tired a shirt on and it made me look like I had gained fifteen pounds! Same for Hollister, it looks so nice on the models.
The clothes are built for a certain body type.

I was shopping with my mom last week and we went into Abercrombie & Fitch.
I found a few cute things but my mom wouldn't buy them for me.
Instead she bought herself a hoodie, and it's really nice.

I plan on stealing it. Shifty

The one thing though that I hated about the store was how you could smell the cologne and stuff from so far away.
That stuff gives me headaches.

I know what you mean. I got a headache last time I was there because the scent was so overwhelming.

I also hate the fact that it's too dark.
I bet cause it's so overpriced they make it dark so we can't see the price.
And then at the cash register it's like WHAM.... $90 for jeans. lmfao

I don't understand why someone would spend like $50 on a top that they'll probably grow out of.

Personally, I understand that they need to belong with other. I've watched a girl who had a style all her own morph into a generic Abercrombie&Fitch wearing wannabe. It's horrible to think about and worse to see. In a way, it took an essence away from her.

It makes me laugh to see Canadian girls wearing 'American Eagle' labelled across their chest.

Some of my friends like it, and I go in with them when we go shopping, but its just not my thing. But hey, its not up to me to decide what people want to wear....

I don't mind their clothing, really; well some of it is pretty tacky-looking a repetitive, but not every single piece of clothing they make is as horrible as some people make them out to be. I shop at American Eagle and Hollister, even though AE is much better; Hollister is kind of lame, or at least the store is...maybe I just don't like going into the store, because that dumbass scent they have all over the store gives me a headache; they always play the music too loud, the lights are oddly too dim, and the whole architecture of the place is like set up to make me get lost, it's like a maze...Okay, I'm getting off-track.

There is nothing wrong with these kinds of clothes; yeah, it's expensive, which is why I only get something from it every other month, not every week, which seems to be the stereotype plastered onto anybody who wears a shirt from there. Some of their clothes can look very pretty and nice.

And besides, their skinny jeans are pretty nice-looking, as far as I'm concerned File.

How do you know they'll grow out of it? I know a lot of people who shop there that aren't gonna grow anymore.

Also - sometimes the price is worth it. I have jeans that cost $100 (but they were from a boutique in California). They've lasted four years. And if you spend a certain amount of clothing you won't just throw it away if you grow out of it. Common sense would say get it tailored.

I like Hollister and A&F. Their stuff is comfortable and understated, not the kind of wildly trendy and outrageous things you might buy and be over in a week.

I don't think A&F is overpriced. the quality is amazing so, as said above, they'd pretty much last forever; and, although the styles might be a bit boring and repetitive, they're subtle and classic, so they're not gonna be out of fashion or anything.

However, it is quite pricey, so I'm veering towards Hollister nowadays. I know it's still kinda expensive [least it is over here, what with shipping prices and taxes; we haven't got a Hollister store so I order from the Internet], but it's not like I've found a cheaper alternative that's equivalent, and I can afford the brand [as long as I don't go too crazy], so I really don't see what's wrong with buying it.

Hollister/A&F sweats are the most orgasmically comfortable things on earth. I will never stop wearing them. And those further back in the thread who believe that makes me a preppy bimbo or whatever, please shut up, because that kind of talk gives me a headache. -__-

I cannot walk into Hollister or Abercrombie because of the scent. I have to hold my breath, even, when I walk by. That shit gives me the worst headaches.

i work at american eagle, and i see a wide variety of people come in and purchase apparel. from the preppier folk to the emo kids with their obscene eye make up. american eagle, hollister, abercrombie kids, abercrombie and fitch are all stores that cater to confident teenagers who can wear a t-shirt with the brand's name written across the chest and not blend into the background.
personally, i don't see why people have such major problems with these stores. they sell high quality, cute clothing that flatters every figure. if you don't like that, get over it and shop somewhere else.

I'm fine with people wearing the clothes around me, but I personally don't shop there. The scents are a little irritating to me, and the clothes don't exactly fit my figure. In all honesty, ever since we got the new Hollister store at my mall, everyones wearing their stuff. Its the norm here.

woot for people who shop in the men's section!
Hug
i shop in the men's section since the girl cut shirts don't exactly flatter my shape. plus, the men's section has cooler clothes (in my opinion).

honestly, i don't like hollister, or A&F, or Aeropostal because none of them are realistic sizes. i refuse to buy from a store that doesn't cater to EVERY size/shape.
and fyi, to whoever was saying that hot topic only has dark colors, you should probably check again. they have plenty of colorful items that AREN'T scene.
