Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 766 | August 22nd, 2008 at 12:25am I've lived in Florida since I was a year old, therefore many hurricane/tropical storm experiences. I've even been through the ones of 2004 where they kept coming one right after the other.
Right now tropical storm Fay's just hanging out on our coastline, so my streets starting to get flooded, and my backyard's definitely flooded because water's coming in on my patio.
Any hurricane stories you'd like to share? |

I was on my way to florida, and the plane got delayed a day because of them.
We had just missed them when we got there. |

But nothing too bad; she has a huge patio/indoor pool that's surrounded by a really thick screen that connects to her house and it got a bit flooded. Nothing too expensive. |

Although, the furthers distance from the sea at any one point here is... not very far at all. I think like... fifty kilometers or something? Someone please correct me... I'm pretty damn sure I'm wrong. |

It was raining really hard- you couldn't even see out of the car windows. Of course it was also thundering and lighting. The bad part was that the truck drivers still drove really fast. Ever since then I haven't been afraid of just your average thunderstorm. |

Age: 22 Gender: Female Posts: 3002 | August 29th, 2008 at 01:49am Yeah, Hurricane Katrina went straight through here. We didn't have electricity for seventeen days, and our phone was off for about a month. It was the worst thing ever. Every day that we were without power, felt like a week. It was so hot and humid. It looks like we're going to be hit by another one sometime early next week.
I'm so dreading it. |

My brother and his wife were living in the New Orleans area, a little south of the Lower 9th Ward during Katrina. Luckily, he got out in time and came over here. Our electricity wasn't out, but the phones were out for a good many days. [3 Year Anniversary of it today, actually.]
All of the panicking and school being closed on Tuesday because of Gustav has got me nervous and worried a little. At first, I wasn't too concerned about it. I mean, it's not like it'll be like Katrina. It'll be a Category 3, probably tops. But this time, it's projected path isn't New Orleans. It's almost directly here [Lafayette], so I'm a little scared. I hope everything turns out okay.
I don't know where you live, Geesecks, but I'll be hoping and praying for everything to be okay with you, too. |

But one of my good friends lives down in Florida. And they actually had to leave their home last week...
They're living in Texas right now with his uncle...until the storm is done... |
