Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle Sound) is a subgenre of alternative rock that emerged during the mid-1980s in the American state of Washington, particularly in the Seattle area. Inspired by hardcore punk, heavy metal and indie rock, grunge is generally characterized by heavily distorted electric guitars, contrasting song dynamics, and apathetic or angst-filled lyrics. The grunge aesthetic is stripped-down compared to other forms of rock music, and many grunge musicians were noted for their unkempt appearances and rejection of theatrics.

To name a few bands;;

Alice in Chains
The Melvins
Mudhoney
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Soundgarden

Pretty much the only grunge band I listen to is Nirvana.
I love their style. The guitars always sound amazing, and Kurt had a very unique voice.

I've heard about two songs by Pearl Jam and I liked them.
World Wide Suicide and their cover of Last Kiss.

I heard a song by Alice in Chains; Them Bones, I think it was called.

Grunge is great.
I like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney and Screaming Trees the most.

One thing i find odd is that almost any hard rock band from seattle in the late 80 and early 90s get tagged grunge. I don't think some of the bands like Soundgarden or Alice in Chains sound very "grunge"

I only listen to Nirvana really, that's a form the grunge background. The funny thing is I never knew that I lived 170 miles from the home of grunge until I moved away. Haha. Oh well, I didn't listen to rock or any of that kind of genere until I was about fourteen, then it just took off like a roller coaster from there.

I love Nirvana, like everyone.

But how could you not?

Don't really listen to the others, though i've heard a few soundgarden tracks, and i've probably listened to pearl jam at some point.

I am in love with Nirvana. They are, by far, one of my favorite bands.
My friend was born the same day Kurt died... That's sad.

Those aren't the only well-known grunge bands...ever heard of Screaming Trees? I love-love-love-love grunge and alternative. I figure I should say that, because those bands can be accounted as part of both genres.

I love grunge. Grunge is my music. It's definitely my favorite genre of rock. And may I say that I love Alice in Chains and that Layne Staley was amazing. RIP Layne.

I like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, Alice In Chains (kinda) and Soundgarden. It makes me kinda sad that a lot of people don't even know Mudhoney even though Mark Arm brought the term into existence.

I hate that sometimes Nirvana gets all the grunge attention...I mean, yeah, they were damn amazing, but I think people need to give the others some credit too. Ha, I probably sound like a hypocrite, with Kurt Cobain pictures scrawled across my profile... Cute But I honestly do listen to other grunge bands. Yes

i listen to like, anything grunge...
tehe

i love Nirvana, Blind Melon, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, etc. etc.

i mean, they were simply amazing. where i live, nobody knows what grunge is. it's horrible. i mean, how can you not know what grunge is? and when i tell them to ask their parents what it is, i feel like... uber old. but people must remember the good 'ole days of grunge... that died in 94.

we need to bring them back.

"... Hey, Nirvana are bringing out a new album next week!"
/Don't ask

I quite like grunge, yeah. But oh God, Nirvana do get all the grunge attention... but c'mon, they are pretty famous. A quarter of Mibba still aren't over Cobain's death, despite being two at the time. That said, Nirvana are one of my favourite bands, so...

My ex 'boyfriend' (we were twelve, does it count?) was really into it, and I still get forced to listen to Pearl Jam on occasion. It's a genre that I probably owe quite a bit to, but out of bands that are truly grunge, I listen to few...

According to my boyfriend, I am grunge because I have been known to eat off the floor. Mr. Green

But, yeah... I've forgotten what I was saying.

/Should probably be ignored
