I think it's kind of ridiculous to say that a band saved your life. Maybe their lyrics inspired you to get help, or made you feel better during a rough time in your life, but inspiration isn't synonymous to 'life-saving'. Putting your entire faith in a band is just silly; they're just a band, they don't know you personally; they're not gods, they don't have all-mighty powers. When I think of life-saving, I only think of physical saving, like a firefighter helping somebody out of a burning building or something. Somebody singing a song with touching lyrics can really get to you and convince you to get help and get better, but like I said, inspiration isn't synonymous to life-saving. That's just saving your own life, not somebody else saving it for you.

I don't think bands can save your life physically, but inspire you to do good things in your life.

Music can mean a lot to people. A certain band's music, or lots of diferent bands' music, can be inspirational to people. Not to everyone, sure, but it could mean different things to different people, depending on what's going on in their lives.
They can give you motivation, calm you, or just lift your mood!

I've never needed to have my life saved, fortunately, but there have been times when I've made the better decision for myself because of a band's words or music.

And who knows, maybe because of those desicions, I will never need to have my life saved.

Music saved my life, sorta.

Fally Out Boy kept me from cutting again. Don't ask how, I don't know, all I know is they make me feel better.

My Chemical Romance is what kept me from cutting
They're the reason I don't find the point in cutting anymore

If I had started when I wanted to then I probably still would
But I now know its not worth it

I don't think a band can physically like all the other said, but I think they can in a way. like a song playing at just the right time, and the words effecting you, enough to stop you from something (that's what happend with me when I was 15)

Hmmm...I don't think a band can save your life.
Only in some cases.
But most of the time, a band helps you.

Actually, you know what, scratch that.
A band can save your life. They can turn a life around.
Maybe to some people, a band's music is another reason.

I don't think a band can save your life physically, like, grab the razor out of your hands and stuff. I know, youse knew that already. XD

But, I think they don't save you, but they send out a message, that helps and inspires the person not to do what they were going to do.

I think that they save lives mentally.
I mean they cannot do anything physically to you that will make you save your life.
Hearing the words "I am not afraid to keep on living" run through your head over and over as you listen you My Chemical Romance sing/play them might make you more mentally stable.
Or what other bands have you.

underoath has saved me. Because they're such awesome dudes and their lyrics are so great they lead me back to God whenever I question my beliefs or things along those lines. And I always find the new Saosin with Cove Reber really helpful.
They definantly can. And whatever can save you that's not turning to substance is a miracle.

Bands are just another group of people that inspire you. You are inspired by them and they help you find the strength to save yourself. Give yourself some credit!

Can bands truly save lives? A question I think that's on a lot of people's minds lately. I want to get your guys' opinions on the matter.

Personally, I don't think they can actually save lives because they don't take the razor/drugs/alcohol away from you. Or any other addiction that you may have, do they? They help you feel better but it's not actually saving lives in my opinion. You do that yourselves.

In my opinion I think that music can make you feel better about life depending on what you listen to and that type of person you are.

For me whenever I feel bad or depressed i put on my ipod choose my favorite playlist called guilty pleasures lol and I sit back close my eyes and feel what ever is on there and by the time it's done I feel better.

So to answer the question does music really save someones life you can say yeah in a way, and in other ways it can just make you life a living hell. But like I said it all depends on what type of person you are.

I think it is not a physical manner of saving us. I think, it is mostly mental. I thought there was nothing that could relate to me. I found several bands that had lyrics that related and they mentally saved me. They made me think. They helped me put it off a little bit longer. Long enough to talk myself out of it for the time. So yeah, bands do save lives. To those who say they don't, it is probably because a) you never found the right band, or b) you never had to be saved. Though I guess this is the same as them only being able to give yourself the incentive to save yourself.

Hmmm.....
All I know is that if I didn't have green Day I would have been put in the loony bin years ago. i think that bands can write music that you can agree to and relate with, giving you a sense of fellowship and that you are not alone, which can save you.

Unless you're about to get run over by a car and they push you out of the way, they can't physically save your life.
They can inspire you to keep living.
I know that without Panic at the Disco, I'd probably have starting doing stupid shit a long time ago. Stuff like cutting. I'd be a mess.
I do believe that they saved my life.

I think they can make someone's life better or easier to live...
But, saying they save lives is a bit extreme.

I just don't see how hearing a song can make you decide to live.

Maybe I just haven't had it happen, but a song and its lyrics are just that; songs. Yes, music is important.
But, it seems some band s write what they do for marketing and image, rather than because they've had an experience of the sort.
Example? Simple Plan.
Bands like MCR don't tackle problems or talk about them, really. Everything is a supposed 'Metaphor' that can be taken however you want it to.

I see a lot of people say 'It seemed like someone finally understood me'.
Isn't that a bit selfish, to think nobody can understand you.
Especially when the only people who do are getting rich off it. =P

Perhaps I just don't see the ogic, either.

So: No.
A song cannot save a life.
The Fray doesn't count, because they're just telling you how to do so.

...That's a joke.

Do we really know that much about the pasts of the guys from SP? So, saying that's kind of unfair.

Really, it might be unfair; but I think it's more of a stretch to assume they really feel that way when writing their songs.
Then again, this is just my opinion.
