Age: 17 Gender: Female Posts: 4372 | June 28th, 2008 at 12:59am I get confused with indie... aren't indie bands uncool the minute you tell someone about them? If it has a tune and people like it, is it really indie?
I live in London, which contains about a million indie kids the moment you get out of this crappy borough and go on to cooler and more cultured places, so I should know something about indie? I know a few indie kids, but I always do this when genres come up... talk about the stereotypical followers 'cause I'm not sure what bands really fit and don't want to make some horrendous mistake. ^_^
Coppers for Karma, check them out. I think they're indie. They act like indie kids, at any rate But honestly, check them out.
According to Wikipedia, I like quite a few indie bands? |

Age: 15 Gender: Female Posts: 427 | August 15th, 2008 at 01:34am Indie was a term actually started by the New Yorks no wave scene, in late 70's. Bands that were unsigned, and did their own lovely underground thing, like sonic youth in the beggining |

Age: 12 Gender: Female Posts: 1371 | August 16th, 2008 at 08:44am I actually consider Indie bands that aren't really as famous or are just bands that often go unnoticed.
But my favorite has to be The Hush Sound, hands down. |

Age: 17 Gender: Female Posts: 1713 | August 19th, 2008 at 04:14pm 'Indie' music is taking over the UK and it's not necessarily and bad thing, but it's sort of loosing it's definition. I mean originally the Pigeon Detectives were Indie but they're signed to a massive label now.
Although I have to be guilty of loving almost any British 'indie' band. But I don't really think that the label that the music is give really matters. |

Age: - Gender: - Posts: 19 | August 20th, 2008 at 12:23am I got into indie not too long ago, but there were some bands I liked for awhile, not knowing what genre they go in. I like Gregory And The Hawk, Silversun Pickups, Sia (idk what I'd consider her, since shes more on the popside, if so, ignore that one haha), Tegan and Sara, Modest Mouse...I really don't know what to describe indie as, theres a few more bands too, but idk if to classify them under indie or not
Ohhhh
I forgot some.
Desaparecidos, The Killers, The Postal Service. But idk whether to classify Death Cab For Cutie as indie or not either. |

Same here
Though I do like some American indie bands too, like Bright Eyes or Modest Mouse; some other new bands too.
And The Pigeon Detectives' new album is too good for words.
I really really love it. |

This thread's name is just 'Indie', so feel free to discuss indie rock bands, indie pop bands or indie bands that fall under any genre. |

Socratic is AWESOME! I LOVE them!
Maroon 5 used to be indie, now they're more pop, but I still like them.
The High Court was an amazing band! But they broke up! >:\
Oasis is good and weezer (are they indie? I would think so)
The Killers are good, but I don't think of them as indie... |
