There is a middle ground though. It's, no matter what you do in your life, don't deny other people the right to be happy. I agree, it don't want to think about two men having relationships or whatever, that isn't my thing. but i want them to be happy if that's what they want. That doesn't mean i'm going to marry a woman.

Well, you can't not deny everyone the right to be happy. If someone wants to go around killing everyone in sight because it brings them happiness, you have to deny them that in order to keep people alive.

Yeah but Gay Marriage isn't going to cause the death of anyone...

I think their pursuit of happiness effectively denies other people the right to be happy (via DEATH), so perhaps we discount that hobby?

Well, yeah. Gay people marrying isn't going to affect anyone for the worse. It might even affect people positively, especially the government. I just wanted to point that out in her post, but yeah...Gay marriage is a good thing. Killing people for funsies, not so much.

Personally I think that either everyone should be able to marry, or no one should. End.

You have the right to pursue happiness as long as it doesn't interfere with another person's rights. In the same line that says we have the right to purse happiness, we also are given the rights of "life" and "liberty". So killing someone violates the rights of another.

I guess it would be better worded to say "you have the right to purse happiness so long as it doesn't interfere with another's rights".

Gay marriage, unfortunately for religion, doesn't interfere with anyone's rights. It doesn't may a straight marriage or straight divorce mean less, it doesn't mean people can't go to church, it doesn't mean God doesn't exist, etc.

Yes, which is why I agree with gay marriage. It's not hurting anyone, so why make it unlawful? You're just allowing two people to be happy with eachother. There's nothing wrong with that, and it sure as hell won't hurt anybody.

Yeah, I just wanted to clear that up. But yes, gay marriage isn't hurting anyone. It's just spreading happiness among the gay couples that can get married. That, the last time I checked, is a very good thing.

I compeletely agree that gay marriage should be legalized, but straight marriage is hindered. The same would be said to a gay couple wanting to marry. If a priest or whoever didn't see the couple fit for marriage then he or she wouldn't have to marry them. It should ultimately be up to the head of the particular church to choose whether or not gay marriage is right or not, not the government.

No. It should be up to the head of the particular church whether or not they want to perform the marriage ceremony, not whether or not the marriage should be allowed.

Any church is allowed to not perform a ceremony if they so choose, including a marriage of a straight couple.

You cannot marry in a church without a marriage certificate from the government.

The government needs to give gay people the right to marry. As always, the church should have the right not to perform the ceremony. But they should not have the right to say whether or not a couple is allowed to have a marriage certificate.

Okay then. My relationship with my girlfriend brings me sheer joy. I don't believe in your God, but she constantly amazes and delights me, and I love her more than just about anything. When I'm depressive, or anxious, or regressing, or in a panic attack and terrified of basically the whole world, she still makes me happy. Abiding joy. Happiness. Awesome, right?

If people are allowed to "marry" God, why on earth shouldn't I marry her?

I see where you're coming from, and I am not about to deny you your joy. :) I am glad you have someone in your life who can do that for you.

And I'm glad that you have more sense in you than your family has, to see that it is prejudice and that nothing can justify it.

It takes a very strong person to do that.

^It makes me sad that my dad's so bigoted...even though he tries not to be...his Dad my Grandad was the biggest bigot, and he was racist too. My Dad's not racist though, which is a good thing considerig he adopted two Chinese kids [me and my brother...].

Racisim is just an awful thing you know. Like, i just can't stand that. All people are people. We all bleed red you know.

I am all for Gay-Marriage after all I myself am gay and I plan to get married someday!! ^-^ It's so nice to see so many people are coming to terms with this beautiful idea.
