Piercing
Soo, my mum has finally agreed to let me get my lip pierced. Bottom left side :)
I've been bugging her for almost 2 years now. And she kept saying she didn't like lip piercings so i had to wait till i was 18. But i talked her round, saying that it was my face, and i should be able to scar it if I want.
Then I was put off a little when i read that they don't use the gun they just use regular needles, I read this whilst i was in the hairdressers waiting for my sister. And the picture next to this showed a girl with this needle through her lip, It was horrific!
So I did some reaserch via wikipedia, and found that they still use the gun in some places. But that didn't really help, because i needed to know about here. So i went onto the piercing thread here on mibba. They told me that a needle should be used for any piercing, and the gun should only be used for ears because of something like blunt trauma. At this point I was freaking out. Seeing that picture and having the bad experiance with needles and my mouth (I went ot get a filling and the dentist bodged up the injections to numb my mouth, he scratched the skin and it caused a hell of a lot of pain) but today, I went onto youtube to see how its done, and, even though the picture in this magazine would suggest they just use a needle, they don't. Its more a surgical clamp type thing, then just put a pin type thing through. And the girl in this video didn't even flinch. It looked ok to me.

You'll be fine. That's what they did when they peirced my belly button (3 years ago) and it doesn't really hurt.

neither did i. For a while i said i didnt want the piercing because with a gun, you cat see the needle and it would be easier,
You can get your ears done with a gun, but thats the only place they should pierce with it. Thats how i got mine done too, but that was about 13 years ago

I think lip piercings are awesome, but I don't have the guts to have one. I want to get a nose stud, but I'm not allowed to get any more piercings (protective parents

I never realised that using a gun was so dangerous, I had my lobes done with a gun D:.
I really want my hair like Hayley Williams' too :D.

I want to get my lip pierced. My parents have absolutely no problem with it. Its my grandparents who do. My grandma said that she and my great grandma would disown me if I got it done. I believe that tattoos are worse than piercings because they're a lot harder to hide. I'm probably going to get my lip done for christmas. Hopefully I don't have to see my grandparents until it heals if I do get it done.

i'm not one for face peircings they can look cool but i always change my mind about likeing them
i've only ever got my ears and belly bar done, ears don't really hurt, and honestly neither do belly bars its just the clamp.
infections can be a problem but i've never had any so i don't think they're that common if you make sure you take care of your peircings.

I sort of winced whilst watching that video. Nevertheless, I want piercings. I'm planning to do a lot of research into them, just so if I ever decide to get any, I'll at least know what's going to be happening.

my mom let me get my nose done and then i asked for my lip and she was like "are you f*ckin serious?!" so I let it drop. atleast theres less than 2 more years till I can get that and my tattoos :D

I hate Katy Perry. 'Ur So Gay' is offensive as hell, and 'I Kissed a Girl' has become the anthem for fake bisexuals everywhere. Maybe if she'd actually ever kissed a girl before she wrote that song, I might be more okay with it. Ugh.
No, guns should NEVER be used for piercings like that. In fact, most piercing professionals will tell you that guns shouldn't be used for any piercings, ever. Way back when they were mostly used for ears, but because of certain problems (blunt trauma, uneven-ness, infections) they're slowly dwindling away. I would never let a piercer touch any part of me, including my ears, with a gun. I'm a needle girl, all the way. If a piercer brought out a gun when about to pierce me, I'd tell him to get a needle and if he refused, I'd walk out. Plain and simple.
Lip piercings aren't that bad. I had snakbites a few years ago,and they were certainly the most painful I had done but when considering that I don't think any of my piercings have ever been unbearable...it wasn't that bad. Now I just have my septum and my stretched ears, because the professional world tends to frown upon them when you're job-hunting; I can wear my hair down to cover my ears, and tuck my septum piercing up in my nose to hide it. When your lip piercing is healed enough, you can wear a retainer in it to hide it, if you ever need to.
If you need any help or advice when it comes to piercings, please feel free to ask me. I've always believed that when someone is getting a body mod, they should be well-informed. :)
