Right Or Wrong?
Well, I'm having this debate on Friday about Homosexuals(at school). And I really would like some of your opinions.
Is it right? Is it wrong? Why is it right? Or, Why is it wrong?
Does God hate gays and lesbians? Does/will he accept them?
My teacher is Christian, she doesnt hates them but she's against it... She has told us many times about how wrong it is and all that...
I have been reading many articles here and on google from different points of view; now I'd like to know yours =]
Thanks for your help if you comment =]

The whole "marriage being a sacred institution between a man and a woman" would be a strong argument if society really did take marriage that seriously. People don't care, basically. Which is why I personally don't understand why staunch Christians and homophobics everywhere band together to ensure that an entire group of people can't have a fundamental right to marry the person that they love.
I guess what I'm trying to say here, is that I would be more willing to look further into the argument about "marriage being a sacred institution between a man and a woman" if society really believed in the sanctity of marriage. But so long as there are people getting hitched in Vegas only to get divorced not even twenty-four hours later then yeah, call me crazy, but I don't exactly believe marriage should have restrictions placed on it.

Your school is having a debate about homosexuality? I find that pretty strange. Do you mean their having a debate on gay marriage? I'm just curious as to why a teacher in high school teaching a freshman class (?) would want to have the students debate homosexuality. Maybe it's just me, but I believe that a debate regarding whether homosexuality is right or wrong, would fall under the category of religion and last i checked there was supposed to be separations between church and state. Is this not a public school? Is it a Catholic school?

For an alternate Christian perspective on homosexuality, try this site: www.wouldjesusdiscriminate.com
As for marriage, nobody is trying to make churches perform same-sex weddings. There are legal weddings that aren't religious, just like there are religious weddings that aren't legal -- i.e., for some reason the couple didn't get a marriage license from the government. Same-sex couples just want the legal rights provided to straight couples by being allowed to marry in the eyes of the law. I'm pretty sure that even if you do consider a town-hall marriage sacred for some reason, you're not allowed to prevent people from getting one because your church wouldn't perform the ceremony. Lots of mixed-religion couples wouldn't get to marry if that were the case.

as for God, He loves everyone, even gay people, but that doesn't mean he's okay with it.
I agree with Geesecks, and Phoebe.

well i'm christian and i'm not against it or for it really.
and i agree with DEAD! Again. personally i don't wanna see anyone making out. period. lol.
i don't think it's right or wrong. i think people are just born that way. i mean after all straight people are naturally attracted to the opposite sex so woudn't that mean that gay people are naturally attracted to the same sex?
i don't think they should be allowed to marry though because that's sacred. and God still loves gay people because God loves everybody (including murderers) but i guess it makes him disappointed when people don't follow his word. and in the bible it states that homosexuality is wrong. but he loves them regardless. :)

Thanks for your comments, and yeah.
Phoebe Caulfield, thanks for correcting me, yeah, I know. God does not hate anyone. That's stated.

Well, I'm not homophobic or anything, I'm actually good friends with a gay male at my highschool...but I just don't think that they should be married. I think that's a sacred bond between a man and a woman. I think gay marriage should be illegal, that's just my opinion. And I agree with DEAD! Again, I don't wanna see gay couples making out in the streets.
And I don't think God hates them, because God doesn't hate, persay. But I don't think that he's okay with it.
