[31] Midnight Sun: The Reason Why I Finally Forgive Stephenie Meyer.

As I'm sure most of the people on this site already know, Stephenie Meyer was in the process of kind of re-writing Twilight, only from Edward's POV. Most of you should also already know that a partial rough draft was leaked via the internet, and Meyer, though upset, posted the draft on her website, so that the fans could read it without feeling remorse.

Now, I sat down last night/this morning, and I decided to read through it, figuring that there was no possible way that it could be less horrendous or sickening than Twilight, which I was, surprisingly, able to sit through and keep the contents of my stomach seated just there, in my stomach.

I have come to know Meyer as a generally bad author, poor vocabulary, poor detail, no depth to her characters, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I could go on for hours.

Now, here's where this entry takes a twist you weren't expecting: while I was reading the partial rough draft of Midnight Sun, I could not tear my eyes from the computer screen.

Finally flashing us some good writing, Meyer enticed me from the start with some flashy vocabulary, indicating that she does have an education afterall, brilliant adjective use, and the ability to entangle incredible amounts of emotion into every single sentence.

Maybe I've just gone soft on the whole Twilight fandom, but I was really captivated by Midnight Sun.

honestly, reading it just made Twilight kind of... disappear in my mind. It was like a whole new story was unraveling right there, as if none of these events had been relayed to me already from the vision of a fairly bland teenage girl attracted to an overly sexy vampire.

Meyer gave Edward feeling in Midnight Sun, like he was actually there, for once, I could actually picture him... Even if he did look like Robert whats-his-face. He had depth, and a certain sharpness, aggravation, kind of overall "I'm pissed off at the world" attitude. This is what finally made me understand why people find Edward so charming. But the aggressiveness and anger that he shows in this book may cause a few Team Edwardites to think twice about the "Charming McHunkity-Hunk-Hunk" that they all know (and, pathetically, love.).

I'm not yet finished with it, I'm glad to say, because I kind hope that it won't end. It has a certain... poetic charm that kind of... entices me to it. I used odd wording just there, perhaps... Well, anyway, I am only on page 248, Chapter 12. Which is fairly slow for me, seeing as I've been reading for about 2 or 3 hours now...

Well, finished or not, I recommend to everyone to take a look at the draft, you may not enjoy it as much as I have, but, at least you will have given it a shot, eh?

You can check it out here.
That link was taken FROM HER WEBSITE, and do NOT forget that the entire thing is copyrighted to Stephenie Meyer and all her people and all that jazz.

So, I hope y'all enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying it!
