Eating sun cream. (This is one of those nice, happy summer journals)

Went to the school to do my maths exam at 9.00 and was home around 11.00 after getting some sweets with Miller before she went back. I then changed out of my uniform and into some shorts, smothered myself in sun-cream and led in my back garden with my shirt rolled up, hoping my neighbour wasn’t spying on me. It was very relaxing but two minutes later I heard lots of voices outside, which I presumed were some other examinees walking back home. Then one of them says ‘I bagsy ringing the doorbell!’ Oh great. I go out my garden door to see THE ENTIRE WORLD on my drive. Or at least that’s what it seemed like.

Next thing I know, I’m dishing out ice-creams and drinks and carrying towels and towels into my garden for them all to lay on. And blowing up an inflatable waterslide. And telling guys not to leave their cigarettes on the grass.

This is what happens when you live a two minute walk away from your school and friends who take buses can’t get home until 3:30. I said to my closest friends – meaning Tazz, Jess, Tess , Harri and Loz, who all live at least a 10 minute drive away, that they can come round my house after an exam or revision lesson. I personally blame Tazz; she has a loud mouth, and I guess people didn’t want to spend the day standing around school so they asked to tag along. And so did their friends. And so did their friends. You get the picture.

My God it was hot today! I loved it! I’m burnt and a little tan. And I accidentally ate sun cream. Has anyone done that before? I thought it was melted ice-cream on my fingers. Tania’s hair smell reminds me of summer, and my skin smell reminds her of summer, so we were just constantly sniffing each other today. Until we got too sweaty. Because then it got gross. But I love this weather. I guess the good thing about having so much rain here is you can really appreciate it when you have a past few weeks like we’re having now.

The waterslide was funny. Only some people took part in it because some still had to go back to school later to do a DT exam, but some who didn’t went for it -- in their school uniforms. A few guys stripped. Those who didn’t took turns hosing it down. I was just laying there at the bottom thrashing around in the water for ages. It was goooooood. It’s one of those days where it’s so hot the air feels thick and your face turns red with heat and you stick to everything. My garden was a little squishy and muddy by the end of it.

Chris wanted to do it but he had an exam so I let him borrow my dad’s trunks pahaha. And he posed for this lovely photo in them;

They were all out by 3:30. Tania was getting picked up by her brother, and so was Jess so they stayed and helped me clear up a bit. Tania’s been seeing this boy, Chris and I’ve been worried lately because I got the feeling we weren’t... mixing well and that he didn’t like me, despite the fact he barely knows me... and I had no idea why. No-one else seems to notice though. Today he was different though – when he left he was like ‘Thanks Stef, I’ll see ya later yeah?’ which doesn’t sound like much, but it really is.

My mums face fell a bit when she got home, but it wasn’t long before this;

I just listened to this really, really long answer phone message from Tania and Tess. Apparently I wasn’t picking up the phone during half term and they were worried about me. Tess was going ‘Stef, where are you? We are worried, where have you been for the past week?’ blah blah and then Tania’s in the background saying ‘I love you Stef! OH MY GOD TESS IT’S ALAN TITSCHMARSH!’ and then they are there having their own little conversation for a while before Tess says ‘so anyways...yeah. I hope you’re still alive. Love you!’ It lasted 3 minutes and 45 seconds.

Today was a nice day for me though. Dozens of kids missing revision classes to enjoy the very rare sun in my garden and the whole stripping and water sliding thing is already one of my favourite summer memories – even though it’s not the summer holidays yet.

I wish I had some more photos to show but Tazz hasn’t uploaded them yet. I like how pretty much all my friends facebook status’ are along the lines of ‘Feels like summers already begun’ or ‘got a taste of summer, can’t wait – counting down the days!’ because of the whole mish in my garden today.

Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jewelled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world. -- Ada Louise Huxtable.

So what are some of your favourite summer memories?

Last summer was pretty awful. The first two weeks were nice because I was in America, but when I got home all it did for weeks and weeks was rain so all I did everyday was take the dog for a walk and watch Desperate Housewives. Back to back episodes.

This summer will be amazing though:) I know some of you lucky bishes have already started yours though.

I wish everyone luck on their exams tomorrow. English in the morning and Geoggers in the afternoon right? I don’t do geography but my friends do, and two of our geography teachers made a website and a blog to help people revise. Their not exactly easy to find so I’ll post them if you want to have a look. Might help. Blog: http://schoolofmrd.blogspot.com/ Website: http://www.egeog.co.uk/index.html

Laughing with friends, feeling just fine. I can hardly wait for Summer ’09:)

I hope everyone’s is A M A Z I N G.

A boy tried to tell me I looked even prettier in the sunlight, but because he had to squint at me through it he ended up saying ‘You look even prettier when my eyes are closed.’
