Today's "Help" [A Rant]
I realize several people on this side are "emo", "scene" or otherwise labeled a similar style. I also most of you have become that way because of the loss of a loved one or you have known someone who was like that.
Well I have a friend. His name is Mario. He's sweet as hall and kind as can be. He's "emo" or whatever you want to label him. And he saw his only friend in the world (his brother) blow his brains out. Now, you have to assume that alone is going to cause some serious damage to a person. However, shortly afterwords his Ex/Best friend killed herself.
His dad decided to get him some help and put him on suicide watch in a hospital. When he got a chance to contact me he told me some of what they did wail he was there, and I was far from impressed by the "help" this place was supplying to my friend.
These places are worse then a boot camp. They tare you down and build you back up again. They steal your freedom of expression and poke you with a needle if you get mad. And they force people to bottle it all up and act like nothings wrong. Any therapist I have ever spoken to has always said it is UNHEALTHY to bottle up such strong emotions. How do you think these people reached such extremes in the first place? They were holding it all in and finally exploded. However, the people supposedly helping your friends, siblings, parents or otherwise are not helping at all. Simply teaching bad habits.
My own step father has gone to one of these places of "help" and even he admits that if you just bottle it up, and swallow the medicine you get out. There was no help to him given, he merely learned how to hold in emotions.
What do you guys think?

I think that those labels are totally ridiculous. I fall under so many labels that I got to the point that I freak when someone calls me one or another. This kid I liked kept calling me emo because of the music I listened to and then my ex friends did the same because they were the preppy/jock types. I fit in with them to I was a flipping cheerleader for five years and captain for one. I could go off on a whole rant but I wont. And its sad that these places are so horrible. I had a friend get put into a pysch ward to be evaluated. In reality it was her father who was insane. I know someone else who also got evaluated but she needed to be in there but she knows how to act and both times she got out and nothing happened.
