Cirque Du Freak Movie?!?!?!
Yes, there is definitely going to be a Cirque Du Freak movie. Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant is heading to theaters ... sometime in 2009. I'll get back to you when I know the month and whatnot.
Paul Weitz is the director.
Anyway, so the cirque du freak saga was like, my favourite. <33 And still is, since there aren't any other good vampire books i can find. Please don't recommend twilight, I have no intention of reading any of those stupid books. -.-
So, yeah, the trailer is AWESOME. :D
most of the time, after i was done with the last book Sons of Destiny, i was looking around the internet, hoping someone was going to make a movie.
and herrrrre it is, finally. :D!
Although, most of my research was fake. Like, I would go on youtube and type in something along the lines of, "cirque du freak movie," "cirque du freak trailer," and i got some character choices out of it. For example this one "trailer" i saw on youtube was the actors and actresses and whatnot, and one of them was actually right. (: well, two.
The guy that is going to play as Mr. Crespley, and Steve. Well, here are the names:
Chris Massoglia -- Darren Shan
John C. Reilly -- Larten Crepsley
Josh Hutcherson -- Steve Leopard/Leonard
Michael Cerveris -- Mr. Tiny
Patrick Fugit -- Evra
Ken Watanabe -- Mr. Tall
Ray Stevenson -- Murlaugh
Jessica Carlson -- Rebecca
... well yeah, you can find the rest of the cast on google. >.>
IMDb.com says that, "Rebecca is Darren's love interest in the movie. Contrary to what many fans think, she is NOT Debbie Hemlock with a new name -- she is a completely new character, created for the movie. In the film, Rebecca is part of the Cirque Du Freak, and has a most unusual physical anomaly... If sequels are made, there is a possibility that Debbie will appear in a later movie."
TOTAL BULLCRAP. D:
I like debbie in the book. And I want Debbie to be the only one Darren falls for in the movie, just like the book. I extremely hate it when movies mix the books up. It doesn't make it seem "different in a good way that might make you think the book and the movie are not one in the same," but it DOES make it seem like the director and the writers didn't look into the book enough and see that the readers of the saga are going to be pissed. D: arggg.
Also, I don't like the actor they chose for Mr. Crepsley. He's supposed to be slim, bright orange hair, tall, and attractive. John Reilly unfortunately doesn't resemble any of those traits. ><"""! Whatever, if I could find a way to complain to the director to his face, I would.
Damn movie makers.
Honestly, I think they didn't want Debbie to be in it because she's black. I honestly think the director is just racist or something. .-.
Hmph. Well, with that rant settled, I finally found out the release date! :D
October 23rd, 2009. Wooot!
So far to go, though.
Even though i'm a little skeptical about a few things I've seen recently concerning the movie, I still can't wait for it. (:

I'm gonna go see it. Even though the characters don't look at all like I pictured them, it's okay. I'll deal with it. I giggled when I saw John C. Riley.
"Hey Darren, you know whats good for vampire pains?"
"What?"
"If you lick my butthole."

I love the books but I don't really like the look of the trailer, I'm not gonna see it.
I'm meeting Darren Shan next month though 'cause he's doing a couple of signings :)

I think we all have a right to be skeptical of it.
The Saga was my favourite series of books throughout my childhood, and I'd like to see it done justice. I don't like the cast, I know Darren said it would be different, but I can't get accustomed to it, and however much I want not to I will walk into the cinema with a predetermined view on it.
And although I hope my views on it will change once I've seen it, I highly doubt that they will.

"intension of reading those stupid books" Wtf? Did you even give it a chance? Yeah people say it sucks and the movie maybe a epic fail but NEVER judge a book by what people say or what it may look like..its like stereotyping >< I quit reading this entry after your comment..
