stereotypes? =/
i just thought I would set things straight. i am NOT an emo. i hate stereotypes and think that everyone is unique and should not be given a label. yes, i write sad poems, listen to rock, love the color black, and am way more emotional than i need to be. i could list many more things that would put me under that category but that isn't my point. i do know how to be happy and am able to look at the bright sides of life. my friends help me with the optimistic side of life. most of my writings are sad because i write when i need comfort or just a person that will listen. i wrote this journal mostly because a few days ago a guy came up to me and said "hey you goth". i get that a lot. also because of the convo i had with my bf today:
me: i started writing happy poems :O lmao.
d: :] well idk if that's good in your world, lol.
& blah blah.
anways, DON'T BE STEREOTYPICAL. [x

People do stereotype all the time, but - disagreeing with kashi- here - we most certainly don't have to just 'get over it' if we don't like it. We have a right to hate labels as much as the next person, no matter if it's an everyday, everybody type thing.

v I hate when people say something about preps -- especially "emo kids" who "don't stereotype". It's so contradicting.

Yeah, what everyone else said.
You're only 13 - you'll learn this in time.
What I don't get, though is I dress in something black everyday. That's the majority color in my closet. My hair is black. I listen to some heavy music. I'm not very social and hang out in cemeteries. I've never been labeled goth or emo.
I must be special. o.o
Or, I think it's because I give people a chance. I don't go "oh they're a prep, they'll just make fun of me." I'm not saying you do this because I don't know, but may kids do.

I- wait, nevermind kashi- pretty much summed up what I wanted to say.

v It's human nature. You have to accept that someone is going to look at you and assume something about you instantly before getting to know you. The only time I become offended by stereotypes is when you absolutely refuse to get to know someone because of their "label." Other than that, it's just a fact of life. I agree with kashi- completely.

kashi- said it perfectly.

I was going to say something along the lines of what kashi- said...
yeah.
Stereotype is a part of life now, you just got to deal with it. We all stereotype each other, even if we don't notice that we're doing it... it happens.
EffieXSteffie, November 7th, 2009 at 03:54:32am
Everyone stereotypes. You stereotype, I stereotype, whoever may be reading this right now stereotypes, god/Jesus/Buddha/Confucious/Kim Jong Il stereotypes...
Get over it.
By the way, if "everyone is unique", then isn't UNIQUE the new NORMAL?

No offense, but your username is kind of emo.
