Granny's

This might sound so sad, and probably rather childish.
My Gran (my mum's mother) has apparently forgotten it's my birthday on Sunday. I know it seems like nothing because she's my Gran and that she's old and stuff; however how can she forget her grand daughter's birthday and yet send a card to a guy she only knows through a friend? The plus side of this is that I won't have her singing down the phone to me on Sunday morning.

Maybe it's petty, but I know she has a diary filled with useless information, like what she and my Papa had for lunch and dinner, she notes things down like birthdays and not to mention death's and funerals. The woman just drives the rest of the family batty.

My Mum is the one who has to deal with Gran, since her sister is out of the country - due to her husbands work commitments ect; she gets really wound up about these things though. We used to take my Gran shopping, but it endded up being a chore that my Mum really didn't need, it would stress her out so badly that my Dad would have the kettle boiling 5 minutes before we would be home; or if it was a Saturday night a bottle of Hock out and ready. The woman just drives everyone up the wall; bad enough that at one point she tried to make out that she had the same symptoms as my Mum; who had just been diagnoised with bowel cancer.
Of course she say's loads of thing, lately it's she has an Underactive thyrod; but since we've seen her tonight she hasn't mentioned a thing. Obviously she hasn't got a thyrod problem otherwise she would be telling us all about it.
Hypocondricate is what I think of her now.
When my Aunt was home last winter both she and my mum went to see my Gran's doctor, who told them that maybe they needed some couselling. Maybe they do, but it doesn't help that 'Mrs Bucket' is wasting tax payer's money on test's that she obviously doesn't need.
It's been almost 2 years since she had an operation done on her right knee, it didn't really need done but she managed to make out to the doctor that it was causing her a lot of discomfort and after seeing an x-ray the doctor did see a bit of arthritis being at the joint - with some more moaning and groaning from my gran he went along with it. It was a complete waste of time and effort that could have gone to someone more... Deserving and actually needing it, instead of her. It's not like she has a new lease of life or anything, most people would want to do more walking, go outside more once they have a knee done, surely they must? Instead she just sit's in her chair and does nothing, which isn't doing her any favours at all.

Perhaps I should try and give up on her as well. Gran's just seem to be a nightmare, and I have no idea why this is so; I'm sure a lot of people complain about their Granparents, but surely they don't want to avoid seeing them?
