MCR haters and the label "emo."
I am SO sick of the label "emo". It seems like that's a label people give to anyone who is different. I've been called that by people just because I wear darker colors and I am quieter around people I don't know. I'm not insulting anyone who would consider themselves emo, but people get ridiculous about it. They will call MCR emo (and a whole lot worse...) and anyone who likes them emo's. I am also sick of people just ripping into MCR because they don't like them. If you don't like MCR, fine, you have a right to an opinion and I respect that; but you also can have an opinion without being nasty about it. There are a lot of bands, singers, etc. that I don't like, but I don't go around bashing them and telling people they are stupid for liking them. It's getting pathetic, really. But I've seen people bottle them at shows, going around looking for MCR fans to insult, and I'm just sick of it. Sorry for ranting on, but this has just been bugging me.

I totally agree with you.Everyone is so judgemental and sterotypical these days, you can't go anyway without being judged. You can't even dress the way you like or like your own music without being labeled.MCR is definatly NOT emo lol they are freaking alternative. The emo genre of music is practically dead now.Emo actually stands for Emotive Hardcore, not Emotional as most people think because this genre of music was around since the punk era so its been around a long time.MCR are FAR from being emo lol.I get labeled as 'emo' or 'goth' just because I wear dark colors and people often say nasty comments to me cos they think I am 'emo' or 'goth',There has always been stereotyping but it has never been as bad as it is now.

Yeah I totally agree with you! I think everything's so stereotypical. I mean, me and my mate used to be called "emo-scum" constantly by the lads that live down the road from me..just coz they didn't know us and my house used to be egged and stuff all the time but after my idea of going out one night, we made friends with them all and we're all okay now =) As for the MCR thing, I love MCR and I think that people totally overrate them. They're either hated or stalked. Even talking about this is making me angry, why can't people just act noramlly around them. I think they're far too big to what they can cope with. Poor guys =/ I mean Frank's only like 25/26 I think, and he's married and in a band who have grown so big it's unbelievable. So anyways...even if I didn't like them I wouldn't hate them altogether. I'm not like that..I mean..I don't particularly like Fallout Boy and I must admit I can take this piss outta Pete Wentz sometimes but I won't mock them in front of people who could potentially like them. I don't even hate them to be quite honest. So yeah! Rant over..I'm tired. xoxoxox

I get called Emo all the time. I mean, sure, I'm shy and reserved around people I don't know, but I'm loud and obnoxious around my friends. Maybe if people got to know who we are before they judged us by our clothes and looks, we might not have labels. It's like someone coming up to me and saying hi, and then I'll reply in a lower, shyer tone. Everyone around me who's listening is just like 'Emo' and that gets to me. It's like when people decided to start calling me a lesbian, when I'm not. In reality I'm bi, but that's beside the point. I have this one ex-friend who hates MCR and said he wanted to kill them all and, if I had them playing on my stereo at my house, he said he would kill himself. It's just like, dude, get over it. He said they're stupid 'Emo crap'. Really! Anyways, that's my opinion. /rant

I know you wrote this because of me, and I'm sorry you took it so harshly
iluvcheetahs5, February 4th, 2008 at 03:31:07am
most people take "emo" totally out of context...emo actually stands for emotional...so its more for a name of bipolars like myself...everything else labeled emo is wrong
sexy-jasmine-flower, February 4th, 2008 at 01:56:34am

dork2themax, January 27th, 2008 at 03:15:28pm
Yeah...I've always thought of them as punk/rock alternative....
Coldwind4, January 14th, 2008 at 08:56:11pm
ok to straighten this out slightly
you can argue with me if you want
"emo" yes is a music genre
but no
MCR are NOT under that genre
my chemical romance are PUNK POP METAL ALTERNATIVE ROCK music
with there lastest album being the most rock
earliest being more punk/ metal fast aggressive sound
this is NOT emo
its punk rock get over it
and i agree im sick of ppl who use the label for anyone
its downright distasteful

Emo is a genre of music, so MCR is emo.
Emo as in the genre.
Now, being called emo is an insult when when you dress how you want, and act, is called emo, just because you like it. Not because it's called emo.
I think emo is a joke. People cutting themselves to pray the pain goes away creates more pain, and is needed of help.
I love MCR, but the whole emo thing is a joke, sadly.

I agree. I don't like fifty cent or any of those other rappers that don't have any tallent what so ever (anyone can write a song if they try, and rappers don't have to sing, they speak with rhythem, if you can freestyle THEN you get credit from me cause that is hard) but you don't here me the little "emo/scenester" that i've been labled going around and ripping the "gangsters/wiggers" a new one. NO. so don't do that to me, I leave you alone, you leave me alone simple as that!
But no, people need to feel good about themself, so what do they do, they go and cut someone else down, seeing someones weekpoints make them feel good about the very FEW good points they have.
Sweetest.Poison, January 14th, 2008 at 05:26:49am
i feel the same way..

Sure, maybe I dislike MCR, but I don't say the nasty things. I could, but I choose not to, cause I don't want the emo kids crying. I care.
But seriously, the label "emo" should be the least of our worries. How about hating the label "faggot" and the discrimination of homosexuals. I know a kid who killed himself because of the taunts. He was a good friend of mine. So, really, "emo" isn't even an insult. "Fag" is and look what it does to people.
And "emo" isn't different. I'm picked on for being different in a Satanic sense. "Hey, look at the devil-worshiper!" I'm serious, people at my school are that lame.
Miss Ann Thrope, January 14th, 2008 at 03:59:49am
I know what you mean, about the lable emo and bashing MCR.
People have formed emo into something it's not and call anyone they can emo if they are different. I get called emo all the f*ckin' time because of the clothes I wear and I really think clothes don't make you a lable.
Oh and I hate that people bash MCR. If you don't like 'em then don't say anything about them. I don't like a lot of bands and I don't go around bashing that band or there fans.
A lot of the fans for bands I don't like are really cool
