Gerard
I'll admit i don't know a lot about Gerard, just that he did drugs and had many depression stages and got through them and that he sings about it in his music. in class i had to write an essay about the person i admire most and i couldn't think of anyone, so i wrote about Gerard Way. My teacher got pissed off when i read it aloud because she thought he wasn't an inspiration as i had said and that i shouldn't admire someone like that. So I was defending Gerard in front of the classroom and three other students in the class started in on how Gerard is great and he saves lives and other crap. So we all got detention for fighting with the teacher and i had to rewrite the essay about my parents instead. i hardly know anything about Gerard but i could write an essay on why i admire him and i cant think of a reason why i would admire my parents lol.

I can't believe that. If a teacher asks you honestly who your inspiration is, you should be able to write about him/her without being judged.

Also, you could admire whoever you want. You could admire Osama bin Laden, and she still shouldn't have to force her opinion on you!

What the f*ck?! She's downright WRONG!

WHERE IS THE DAMN JUSTICE WHEN YOU NEED IT?
WHERE IS THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH?
THAT STUPID TEACHER OF YOURS CAN TAKE HER STUPID OPINIONS AND SHOVE THEM UP HER ARSE!!!
Sorry, a bit of a breakdown there. That happened to me too, and i was pissed. Start a petition against that! Stupid teacher.

and i had to read it in front of the class. and my teacher just glared at me, but told me that it was a good speech :P

You know what, Thats dammed true. You should be able to admire who you want. I say you should tell someone else- high in authority- and take this higher! Its more than just a "dentention and redo"!
Sink of Exotica., February 7th, 2008 at 01:26:27am
Thats ridiculous. I mean, who are they to say he's not an inspiration to anyone? That's not right.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH, PEOPLE!!
if i had a teacher like that, i would stand up for Gerard, too, whether that person is a respected person...you diss Gerard, you diss the people who admire him and love what he has done....
we're doing a "bust" made out of cardboard and an essay about a person that we admire....im writing about gee..
even though it's black history month, my teacher said that she doesn't care if they're black, hispanic, italian, asian, or any other race...
gee's italian/scottish, so im writing about him...
she's a good teacher....
and she teaches my fav subject, English....
your teacher reminds me a teeny bit like Mr. Neck from Speak, who didn't care about freedom of speech, and Melinda didn't wanna talk, so he gave her detention for it...>=(
I wanna teach that teacher some sense!!

I was going to do an essay on Ray.
Until my teacher said that we had to actually know the person.

That sucks. What happened to freedom of speech? Your teacher should be respectful of your thoughts.
That teacher sounds like they'd probably be a homophobe too... lol you should've put something about Frerard in it just to annoy them even more.

That's f*cked up.
Gerard is an inspiration and he is for a good reason. Someone can't tell you if he is or isn't your inspiration.
It's awesome that you stood up for youself about it though.
Frank!enstein, February 1st, 2008 at 11:47:29pm
That would piss me off. The asignment was supposed to be about who YOU admire, and it's YOUR opinion.
You have every right to do your essay on Gerard, and if you were supposed to do it on a certain 'preferable' person, then your teacher should have said that.

That's stupid and outrageous!
You can't tell people who they'r einspiration is
It's YOUR inspiration not someone else's
That teacher is so stupid
I knwo a lot about Gerard Way (Cause i'm wierd and obsessed *mkhdfioufbhgjk*)
anyways I know a lot about him
and someone who can become sober in less than two weeks ON TOUR is someone pretty amazing, if anyone has ever read his lyrics, seen his art, listened to the things he says, than they know he's an inspiration for us all
The amount of people he has helped, saved, and adored by is un-countable
He's a damn amazing person and that teacher had no right to say he wasn't an inspiration
They had no right top patronize you either!
I want to have a go at this teacher so bad now
Obsessed much? Hahaha no, I just don't loathe people who tell you what to think
Twilighted-Beauty, February 1st, 2008 at 10:13:07pm
That's horrible. It's freedom of speech, and the teacher shouldn't have silenced you because she didn't agree. You should tell on her :grr:
Sardonic Grin, February 1st, 2008 at 09:43:24pm
that's ridiculous....
Your inspiration should be your personal preference, not who some one tells you it is
That's pretty ridiculous
