Never Wear a Skirt in Chicago Pt. 2

The Art Museum

They cancelled us. Yeah. We rode a train for nine or so fucking hours, walked a mile, and they cancelled us without telling. So, Angela's aunt went and talked to the workers. Turns out, since Angie's aunt used to go to the school there, we got in for free. Even though we had already payed. Whatever. Yeah, and they were real assholes. The kind that just claim they're doing their job, when in all actuality, they just feel like being ridiculously rude. Except for this one lady. She was really nice. She asked us if we just got off a bus; we told her that we took a train and she said we looked tired. ...We were there for what felt like forever. I kept having to keep up with the rest of the group, because I was amazed. I took like a zillion pictures on my crappy phone. There were Picasso's, Monet's, Di Caprio's, and a lot of others'.

Tip 8: Don't cuss out the evil people.

Lunch & Shopping

Tip 9: When going to Chicago, wear walking shoes. It really doesn't matter how shitty you look or the shoes look, you'll be glad. Don't wear Vans. Just don't. Even Converse are better than Vans.

So we went to Macy's for Lunch. Yes. Macy's. They have a fucking food court in a fucking Macy's store. Not to mention it was at a ridiculous height of SEVEN floors. They sold PIANOS. PIANOS!! They were beautiful. There was this lady with an accent that played for Angie, me, Kaitlyn, and Lindsay. She was really nice, and I can truly say that I met a true Chicagoan.

Mrs. Lilly made us stay on the same floor, which, might I add was completely ridiculous. We're big kids. We can handle it. Of course, you know, I kind of didn't follow that rule. I could figure my way around without getting lost. Even if I did get lost, I could call ten different people on my cell. So, I went to the Starbucks and got a venti Iced Soy Latte, a Dasani water, and Izze soda. I wondered around, found a bookstore, and bought a $1 HP calendar. Oh, yeah, I know. It was fucking rad. The guy who worked at the bookstore was really nice [relief, really] He asked about what kind of book I was looking for and if he could help. I guess that was his job, but it was nice compared to the bullshit that day.

We went on a couple of floors in Macy's, then we begged Mrs. Lilly to take us to Old Navy, which really sucked compared to the one we have in C'dale. I bought this tank top that was kind of a pastel green with ruffles on the front. I swear the shopping never ended. That's all we did all day. We went to H&M and some other overly-expensive designer stores. There was this one store and the lady there was really nice. She tripped when she was behind the register and she had this really... urban black girl way of talking. I bought these flip flops that have this plaid design on them.

Okay, so by this time I was really seriously in freaking pain. It was really hot, so I took off my jeans [which I was wearing a mini pleated skirt over, so no worries] and changed my shoes.

Tip 10: Never wear a skirt in Chicago. Just DON'T! It had gotten really windy while we were inside, and while we were walking I had a hardcore Marilyn Monroe moment. So, there I was in the middle of Chicago, holding down my skirt after flashing god knows who. I just so happened to be wearing my ugly underwear that day, too. :/ It's called the Windy City for a reason. The "windy" part has nothing to do with booming businesses. Nopers.

We started heading toward the station to go back home. I was still in serious pain and relieved to go home. I didn't want to leave, I just wanted to take a nap, wash my face and hair, change my clothes, and my feet to stop having spasms.

Train Station

Tip 11: Don't spend all of your money in the city. You'll want money to buy food for the train.

We there for a couple hours. I donated to a charity to help with mental disability research and help. Angie bought me a vegan granola bar and peanuts that I downed in two seconds, then she gave me her bread from her salad. It was nom-ful.

Train Back Home

This was one of the worst parts. They didn't give us pillows. No blankets. It got really cold and started raining. But, Chicago was really pretty at night. As we left, Kaitlyn and I read. I finished my book, Crank, and laid down to sleep. I fell asleep freezing my ass off, and we were about an hour late to get home. Then I got home around 3:30 am and told my mom all about it. We decided we should go back again and stay longer than a day. Anyway, to sum it up, Chicago was awesome. I was miserable, and my legs still kind of hurt, but all in all, it was funnnn.
