Give It A Name Sheffield 10+11/05/08

Saturday 10th May & Sunday 11th May
We were standing both days, it killed my legs but it was so worth it. On the Saturday i went with two of my friends, Matt & lisa, and Sian, Daisy and Freya were seated. Then on the Sunday Sian came with us in standing, after she put on a sob story for the chick at information because she'd ordered a seating instead of a standing ticket, dumbass. But it worked and she got a new ticket!

Anyway, on the Saturday the best bands were The Blackout (and no lisa, it's not because of my slight obsession with Sean Smith), The Color Fred, Billy Talent, envy on the coast, and strike anywhere. I was slightly let down by youmeatsix and four year strong, as i love those bands but neither performed brilliantly. I managed to get one of the Silverstein drumsticks, which made my day, and i also joined in a couple of circle pits during Anti-Flag and possibly Silverstein? i can't remember which band was playing. But they were intense, the floor was soaking so everyone was slipping everywhere! Sian, Freya and Daisy also made two friends where they were sat, Sam and Ashley i think, but don't quote me on that. This dude also gave Sian his standing ticket after he got hurt, so she joined us for the 30stm set (she's obsessed with them.) They came back on for their encore carrying umbrellas, so me being the cool kid that i am shouted out "Isn't that bad luck?" which received me a few funny looks to say the least.

On the Saturday the best bands were Mayday Parade, The Audition, My American Heart, MC Lars, Cobra Starship and Paramore. Alkaline Trio were a bit meh, but they made up for it by playing Radio. The only band i didn't like over the whole weekend was Meg & Dia as her voice goes straight through me. Broadway Calls, the first band, were AMAZING. I love them, but i don't think many people there knew them that well. So during their set i was one or two people from the barrier, and again me being the cool kid that i am, i sang and screamed my heart out, and jumped around like a kangeroo on speed. This was while everyone around me pretty much stayed still, occassionally nodding their heads to the beat, and clapping politely at the end of a song. So needless to say, i earned myself a few more funny looks. We managed to get to the barrier, and stayed on untill the end of My American Heart. Before MC Lars came on, during Chiodos, i spotted him stood at the side of the stage with his support band. Anyway, he looked my way, i waved, he waved, then he did the rock on sign \m/ and wooed, so i did the rock on sign and wooed, then he pointed at me and i laughed and looked around seeing loads of people again giving me funny looks. (i don't think they saw him, it must have been weird to see one side of that. lol) After My American Heart we went off on the mission to find MC Lars as he said he'd be walking around. So anyway we found him, i got an autograph, a pic and a high 5, and i was almost in tears the whole way through it. So we went back for the All time Low set and what's the last thing you expect to see in a mosh pit? A human pyramid! Crazy stuff. Then later during Plain White T's people had a conga line going! and a mosh pit for Hey There Delilah, lol. OOF, i met this 6 foot odd scottish dude and played eye spy with him in the crowd whilst wating for Paramore to come on. We didn't get far after P(eople) but it was a barrel of giggles (did i really just say that 0_o?) So anyway it was an immense weekend, and i'm sure i've missed out a load of crap that happened, but oh well i'm sure i've bored you enough aleady.

If you haven't heard of MC Lars then go check him out, he'll either make you think, laugh, stare strangely at your computer screen, or simply put a smile on your face. So just do it and find out! Like right now! Go! What are you waiting for? Shoo.

Cheerio.
