Character name? :\
I'm so starting a new story and... I've not written anything for what seems like ages. My old stories are all n00by [ of course, I made them when I was new. >_> ] so, I want my new story to be in its best but, I'm having problem with the names of characters. :\
What should I name her?
>_> This is for the story I'm making.
I don't know what should be the name of my female character! Dx
Her characteristics are...
-> She's brave and very outspoken.
-> She's almost similar to the girl in Sassy Girl. The difference is, she's not that crazy.
-> Although she's brave, there are certain things that scares her like, people staring at her and men.
-> She's friendly but definitely a snob.
-> She's kind of cute.
-> She's half-Filipino, half-American.
-> Added: Came from America. *thinks* She's from California. ^-^ Typical place but... I got no choice. Don't ask why. :tehe:
^-^ Please... I need help. What should I name her?
And, the surname... :/ I don't know the surname either.
Please... I need help. :(
Thanks in advance. *huggles*

I already picked some but if you have any more suggestions, please don't hesitate to give me. ^-^

Whatever the name you picked, why did you pick that name?
Does it suit the girl's characteristics? ::shifty:
Will it catch the reader's eyes?
Thanks. ^-^
Whatever name that has the biggest points will win!
*headdesk* Nah. Whatever will be, will be.
I'm so confused now and I don't know what the hell should I do.

Vannessa - Vann. -shrugs- My friend's name is vannessa and we call her Vann.
Rikki is cool 'cause I've never seen anyone with that name spelt like that. (or maybe I just have no life :tehe:)

The best name site that I've ever found is behindthename.com
Pandora, Mina, and Paige are my favorites. But if you pick Pandora, then maybe her parents should have been obsessed with mythology because otherwise there's no real reason for that name. Mina is super cute, not too "out there", and it makes me picture this cute little girl that you could shape and mold in different ways. Paige, I just like. It's one of my favorite names. Pretty common, not too common.

List of Filipino names. You could probably use some of them as surnames. You have to scroll down to see the list, but not too far.
My favorites are: Bulayo, Cabal, Dalit, Gaane.
Not looking too much farther. Bit of a headache.

VANESSAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
I swear, that's the perfect name :file:
Or maybe Ember, 'cause in the Smashing Pumpkin song 'Tonight, Tonight' the line:
'And the embers never fade, in the city by the lake'
City by the lake is Chicago, make her come from there and they move to LA or something...

The urls won't work. omgno:
Okay... actually, I don't think I have thought about the story behind her name. :XD
I was just thinking a name that would suit her personality. And when I already picked a name, I'd make a story behind it. x]
She's 23/24/25. Still not sure about it. >.>
I'm still having a hard time deciding between Vanessa and Rikki.
I think Vanessa's a cool real name and Rikki as a cool nickname but I don't know... There's no connection between Vanessa and Rikki.
Surname's Gonzalez so.. don't worry about the surname now. xD
Does she hate her name? Hmm.. I don't know. XD What do you think? Would it be cute if she doesn't like it or would it be typical or would it be i-don't-care?
What would be a cute nickname for Vanessa if I wouldn't use Rikki as a nickname?
-_- *is hopeless*

Okay this is gonna be a longass reply. :)
If she's from California, why not 'Callie'?
It's cute, nice, kinda sweet. I dunno. :tehe:
Okay. Is there a story behind the name? (Or could you create a story behind the name?) Like, she might be named after her grandma or her mum's best friend, or her mum might have had an obsession with a movie or a song round the time of her birth. The thing with that is that it has to be time-appropriate; if she's named after her grandma, and her grandmother's seventy, then you have to think of a name that an old woman would have, like 'Joyce' or 'Margaret' or something old-fashioned like that. If she's named after a movie or song or book or famous person or something, try to get something common back then; don't name her like 'Hermione' after the chick in Harry Potter if she was born in 1993 when Harry Potter wouldn't have been around. Or her parents are really religious, so she has a name like 'Angelique' or something.
Do I make sense? And with the 'story behind the name', it can be anything; her mum's hero, a character from a book, her dad's mother, or anything you can come up with that's better than these crappy examples.
I can't help with the last name 'cause I don't speak Tagalog.
Ask yourself, does the character like her name, or hate it? If she hates it, what's the reason? Does she get teased at school for it (like, her name is 'Gay' or something), or does she dislike the meaning, or what? Does the name suit her or not? Like, you could get a name like 'Bianca' which means fair-haired, fair-skinned and wouldn't really suit a girl of Filipino descent, or you could get something like 'Bruna' (dark-haired), which would.
What year was she born? Look through lists of popular baby names that year; you might find one you like. :)
Also try thinking about some nicknames - 'Kimmy', 'Chrissy', 'Allie' are all kinda cute names and could have longer versions as well. Nicknames like that build a sense of intimacy between reader and character - it's less formal. (SOME longer versions could be 'Kimberly', 'Christina' or 'Alison', but you can vary the spelling and there're other names that abbreviate to them.) you can think up other shortened names you like, they're just the first ones I thought of. I love 'Kimmy'.
I searched a couple for you though.

I'm not sure but can I suggest don't give her a name that is really out there as that is a characteristic usually found in really n00by stories in an attempt to make an overused character more original. An indiviual name is good, but not to far out because you want the reader to be able to relate to her and for her to be believeable.
I think I like Vanessa or Sarah. :cute:
