My Thoughts On Abortion
First of all, I would like to start out by saying I'm non-denominational, on the border of atheist. No you cannot spend time trying to convert me it's pointless. I went from Baptist to Catholic to this.
Abortion is wrong no matter which way you slice it. Either way it is murder. The definition of murder according to the Bible and most dictionaries is the taking of an innocent life. I do believe that life starts at conception and the fact that we allow abortion to happen up to twenty weeks is disgusting. Do you know what a baby looks like at twenty weeks? It has a body and a brain. It is alive.
Yes, I understand the mother has rights too, but it doesn't mean that its her right to choose whether or not this innocent life can live or die. She is not God or the Creator. She may have to house the baby, but it doesn't make it her choice. Those who try to bring the Constitution into this need to be smacked. Who cares what the Constitution says about being legal until your eighteen? Who cares if the parents have control over you until then? It is illegal for your parents to abuse you let alone kill you. Think about this logically I am going to use a really obvious example that will show the problem over exaggerated. Don't flame me or get caught on this, but what if your parents decided that they didn't want you anymore and you're ten years old? Do they have the right then to just kill you? No, of course not. So, why do we allow a mother to choose whether or not she wants to live with her baby.
I see the point in some arguments for pro-choice. What if the mother is raped? Well the obvious answer is have the baby and then adopt it out if you really don't want to live with it. What if it's a baby due to incest? Who cares if it has brain damage or has a physical defect, it is your child you should love it no matter what shouldn't you? If its a serious defect then I understand the whole abortion thing, but if its something as simple as it's going to be slightly defective then you should keep it. What if the mother is in danger or the baby? Then I am totally for this. I believe in pro-life for the mother as well.
The last few things I would like to point out are that a baby's life starts at conception. Ron Paul our former presidential candidate pointed this out. I totally agree with this. Remember everyone a baby is a life too we should not be murdering them.
Besides look at it like this if a pregnant woman is murdered then the suspect is charged with double homicide, but yet we allow women to kill their unborn babies. How is this right?

I find it hilarious that in the first paragraph you claim to be 'borderline atheist', but then right in the second paragraph you completely contradict that claim by using rules from the Bible to back up your argument . Is it just me, or doesn't that seem a little, oh, what's that word ... hypocritical? Or I just must not know what atheist means. You either believe in a higher power or you don't. There is no such thing as a borderline atheist.
Abortions are only legal up until 12 weeks because until then, there are no brainwaves and there is no heartbeat coming from the fetus. There is actual scientific evidence to back this up. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but aren't animals considered not living if they're missing those two very important functions? Would you consider a dead body to be living because its made up of cells, even though it has no heartbeat or brainwaves? Stem cells are not sentient beings.
If a woman's abortion is considered murder, then so is male masturbation. All masturbatory emissions where the sperm is clearly not seeking an egg could be termed reckless abandonment.
Society does not need more children; but it does need more loved children. Quite literally, we cannot afford unloved children - but we pay heavily for them every day. There should not be the slightest communal concern when a woman elects to destroy the "life" of her thousandth-of-an-ounce embryo. But all society should rise up in alarm when it hears that a baby that is not wanted is about to be born.
No one is trying to convert you. We're trying to make you understand. You are perfectly entitled to your own set of beliefs and moral code, but once you start trying to dictate how you think other people should live because what they do might be wrong to your morals is where the dipsh*ttery has to end. A free society can only exist when the citizens are able to freely pursue their desires. Get the hell out of my bedroom and I'll stay out of yours.

The endless is right. You're allowed your opinions but don't get pushy :D

I totally agree with the endless.'s comment. If you can bring the Bible and Ron Paul into this, why can't we bring the Constitution? The latter makes a lot more sense than the first two.
Romania outlawed abortion for twenty-three years, from 1966 to 1989. Over 500,000 women died from botched illegal abortions. That's over 59 women per day.
Do you want that? Do you want the mother and the child to die, all because you wanted to force your beliefs up an innocent woman's uterus?
If abortion is made illegal, that doesn't mean people aren't going to stop trying to get one. Not everyone thinks a fetus is a life. Not everyone thinks like you.

That is your opinon and you are perfectly able to have it.
I will only address the last part.
The reason why a killer of a pregnant woman is charged with double homocide is to nail him (or her) with as much as possible. It sounds so much more horrible to kill two, and, because of this, the punishment might be increased to ensure the killer won't get out sooner and commit the crime again.

Abortion is wrong no matter which way you slice it. Either way it is murder.
That's not fact, that's pure opinion. Sorry, but until the zygote shows brainwaves and a heartbeat, it is not a living organism. It is a bundle of stem cells. I might not agree with what you are saying, but I would die for your right to say it. That is how much I believe in freedom.

I'll address this point by point.

1) I do believe that life starts at conception. Yes. You believe It's your belief, it's your opinion. Why are you pressing your beliefs on other people?
2) Abortions do not happen at 20 weeks, at least not legally. Abortions are only legal in the first trimester, which is up to 12 weeks.
3) She may have to house the baby, but it doesn't make it her choice. Oh, I see. It's not her choice, even though she's the one that has to live with it for 9 months. It's your choice, right?
4) Those who try to bring the Constitution into this need to be smacked. Who cares what the Constitution says about being legal until your eighteen? Oh, of course, it's ridiculous to consider bringing the Constitution, the law of America, into a discussion about whether or not abortion should be legal. If people can bring the Bible into this argument, why can't we bring the Constitution?
5) So, why do we allow a mother to choose whether or not she wants to live with her baby. Because it's a bundle of cells that her body created, that is now acting as a parasite on her body. Because you don't have the right to make choices about someone else's body.
6) Well the obvious answer is have the baby and then adopt it out if you really don't want to live with it. Oh, okay. The obvious answer is that she should get over the emotional and physical trauma she endured when she was raped, and she should obviously be perfectly okay with carrying a reminder of her rape in her body for 9 months.
7) Who cares if it has brain damage or has a physical defect, it is your child you should love it no matter what shouldn't you? Oh, I see. You're huge on protecting the embryo's life, but it's perfectly alright to knowingly let it go into life with a disability. And let me note that people are not going to adopt a disabled child, and the mother might not have the money to support the child, what with caring for it and paying for medical bills.
8) I believe in pro-life for the mother as well. Oh, you sure are. Yet you're perfectly alright with potentially destroying her lifestyle by forcing her to have a baby she doesn't want.
9) Ron Paul our former presidential candidate pointed this out. Oh, okay. If Ron Paul said it. It must be true, because he's totally a licensed doctor, not a crackpot Congressman.
This has gotten quite long enough, I think.
