Heterophobia?
Yes.
The exact opposite of all of those 'homophobia' journals that are posted pretty much every single day by numerous users; half of which don't even know the true definition of the word.
I don't see much, if any of it on this site though. Not that that's a bad thing.
Thing is: What I do see a lot of is Heterophobia.
No, not so commonly complained about. Hell, it's not even recognized by most as an actual term. I don't think it's in the dictionary.
Though apparently it's quite common here.Quite a few times, I've seen posts such as 'Oh my gah, straight couples make me sick.' or something along those lines.
Back up just a minute. Think before you say something like that- how would you react if you saw/heard where someone said that about homosexuals? You'd probably be pissed off, no?
Then people say things like: 'Well, there's no such thing as heterphobia."
Maybe not technically, but seriously people, if you're so against hate, then stop hating.
To quote one of my old journals:
People act as if they are so bothered by hate on this site.
When actually, a lot of users are only bothered by 'homophobia'.
Stop being a hypocrite.

To quote one of my old journals:
quote:
it's totally okay for you to say that heterosexual stories/couples are gross or make you sick to your stomach. Someone couldn't dare say that about homosexuals. [No, I don't feel this way about either, so don't accuse me of that.]
I just find it kind of hypocritical of people to think they can say that straight couples are gross, but get so mad when someone does something they claim is 'homophobic'.
Hate is hate. It doesn't matter who you're directing it towards; it's still wrong.
Isn't hate wrong in any shape, form or fashion?
Apparently not to a lot of people. As long as it isn't 'homophobic', hate is totally okay.
Right?
Wrong.

I agree. Heterophobia is becoming way too common on here and it makes me mad.

Yer right.
So completely right.
Like...damn.
I never thought like that before but what you said makes so much sense.

I don't know why people think it's socially acceptable to hate straight people.
You get a lot of gay people who say, "Omfg, straight people are gross." They're gay, so they're most probably gonna think that. And everyone seems to be okay with them saying it.
But if it was the other way round, the person would be bashed for it.
You're right. It's very hypocritical. You can't blame people for not liking straight/gay people, because some people are just born with a dislike of them. But if you're gonna bash one person for being "homophobic" (I use that word lightly), then technically it's only fair for you to give the "heterophobic" people the same treatment.
Though really, everyone should just leave people be. As long as they aren't being abusive about it, people can dislike whatever they want.

I've definatly seen the 'straight couples make me sick' comments about stories on here.
If you don't like reading about it, don't. Just like people who don't like reading about gay/lesbian couples should avoid stories with that kind of content.
And in real life, just get over it. No matter where you go, or what you do, theres going to be something you disagree with. Thats just life. There should definatly be more tolerance in the world.

Thanks for finally making that known.
It's in the urban dictionary if that counts...
I get hetrophobia a lot less then I get homophobia, and I barely understand that. There's really nothing I can think of to say to back you up besides, you're right, and I agree.
Sorry I can't help out more.
