Does Music Change Your Emotion?
It makes me frustrated with myself when I hear people on here say music has no effect on your emotions or that lyrics do not make you depressed when I honestly can say that music can change my motives for that day.
If you listen to a infuriating song, do you not feel anger?
If you listen to a slow soft-spoken song, so you not feel remorse?
And so the list goes on...
Anyway, let's to get straight to the point. Music does cause change, not just in society and culture. Music can cause a person to be depressed or excited. The things you hear makes you think and feel differently.
Tell me, what do you think you would be like if you never listened to rock music?
(I'm just using rock music as an example since most people on Mibba are interesting in that genre.)
The turning point in my life was expriencing music. I used to be a ballet dancer, listened to Britney Spear and Nsync, act like a princess and almost always wear pink. I am now my opisite; wearing black and red and brown, not caring what other's think, listening to anything but pop music, and playing bass.
Now please, don't tell me 'well things change from when you're a child and your parents chose everything for you'. I was in fifth grade, choosing my own things, and wearing pink. Then, I heard of a band called 'Green Day' from my friend Jenn. Everything from that one day in Mrs. Cohen's class changed from then on.
Listen to the song Breathe Me by Sia, and tell me, what exactly is it do you feel? A change in emotion?
[If there are some spelling errors on this journal, I appologize. I don't have time to spell check.]

I think it can change your emotion...it does for me at least

Oh yeah music influences my mood incediblely. I've actually had to stop listening to some bands/songs because I would get so sad would actually start to sob.
Angry songs don't really change my emotion though. I can feel it but I, myself don't end up feeling furious. Unless I'm already at a p!ssed off level.
And I used to be a crazy Hilary duff and pop kind of girl when I was younger and I don't listen to her anymore and my interests haven't changed much. Back then I kinda liked pink but wasn't crazy for it and it's the same now. My clothing tastes has changed a little a guess but not drastically. But then again I still listen to pop I believe from time to time.
I think your interests just changed.

Hardcore stuff gets me excited, and acoustic stuff makes me calm. Sometimes sad, but only if I already am a little sad.
No music makes me angry (okay, CRAPPY music does but that's because it's CRAPPY and I just want it off) but maybe I don't have a particularly expanded range of music taste...
Music is something like alcohol. Some people get violent when they drink, some get depressed, some get really happy and stupid.
And they all get sick afterwards.
Wait, that has nothing to do with music.
Oh well, I'm no good at metaphors.

When I listen to an angry song, like one with a lot of screaming in it, I feel anger and it gets me pumped, but other than that, no, music does not change my emotion.
I listen to what suits my mood instead of something sad when I'm happy or something happy when angry, etc.

music deffinatly plays a role in changing my emotion..like if im angry i listen to 30 seconds to mars and if I'm sad I listen to It's Not Over by Daughtry..the beat of songs and the lyrics play a HUGE role on how people feel!

I think it does.
When I'm angry I listen to Fall Out Boy and it clams me down.

i'd rather listen to music that fits my emotion, rather than trying to change what i'm feeling by listening to music, because i hate that sense of euphoria i get when i listen to happy music, and then it's snatched away from me and i'm sad again.
i've been listening to really sad music for the last week or so :/
