Respect. It's a two way street.
Respect:1: a relation or reference to a particular thing or situation
2: an act of giving particular attention : consideration
3 a: high or special regard : esteem b: the quality or state of being
--- Source.
Okay, it seems quite a few people don't know how to show respect to others.... yet they demand to be shown respect. I'll tell you right now, sweetheart-- that's not the way it works.
Ever heard the saying: "if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"? How about taking that, and learning what it means?
Reality: if you're rude to someone, namley being rude about their beliefs-- most likely they're going to be rude right back to you. There's a simple balance here, people.
If you don't want to people saying something about your life and your decisions and beliefs, how about showing them that same respect? Even if you disagree. Just don't say anything... because when you cross that line, you should expect that they'll say something in return.
You don't see me posting journals about why I think that certain things aren't needed, because I know I have no right to insult what other's believe.
Quit lumping all religions/stereotypes together to back your 'opinion', because you can't judge someone that you don't know.

You already know I agree with this.
Especially with religion. If people want to discuss it, go to the religion forum and debate it there. Don't attack it in journals.

Dancing Caveman - it's okay. God is just a very personal topic for me, so I tend to get a little too emotional. But it's all good. :)

I hope we call all still have topics like this to question are selves and help us grow....but I hope it never becomes a bit scary like this one did for a bit. Both of you had great things to say, I like positive a bit more, but I can see stuff from negative as well.
Miss.Understanding, August 1st, 2008 at 06:19:36am
His- I just want people to think about things and to question me as well. I don't mean to hurt feelings or cause problems. I'm sorry that it offended you.
Dancing Caveman, August 1st, 2008 at 06:15:36am
Thank you. I don't mind you having your opinion- it's your right. Just the way you put it was rather offensive.

Thank you very much Alex and Miss.Monster.
GeeSecks. I'm sorry, okay. For your sake, and the sake of others on Mibba, I'll try to word things a little bit better and a little bit nicer. I don't want enemies. I don't want fights.

I read her journal, and it made me cry. How she talked about God like that hurt me to the core, to be honest. I don't know why she has to make a journal like that when she knows a lot of people would get hurt/offended by that. But then again, it's my fault for reading. /shrugs/
miatastic., August 1st, 2008 at 06:10:56am
Wow her journal got people talking. You know I think this is what she wanted, the debate over religion. All you guys who are posting journals referring to hers are just giving her what she wants. What I believe she was doing was stating her opinion on why she thinks we don't need religion. There is nothing wrong with stating an opinion. You may have taken what she wrote in the journal offensive but truly I doubt it was meant that way.

We're playing the song Respect as one of our field show songs in band.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me.

I m not sure you were that rude either...but I m not sure. I don't want to offend anyone.
Miss.Understanding, August 1st, 2008 at 05:57:36am
*sigh* I know, I see that. I hate taking sides....I understood your side a bit more, but I also say what she was saying....I think it's a bit because it seems your both really passionate about what you believe....but I m not sure putting the blame on anyone is going to help. The original topic is seems has been left behind. =( I don't hate, i just watch sadly that it all came to this i guess.
Miss.Understanding, August 1st, 2008 at 05:56:47am
I really don't think I was all that rude, to be honest. But whatever.
Geesecks., August 1st, 2008 at 05:53:58am
Well said. :D
Unfortunately, some people will never learn to respect others.
Slaying the Dreamer, August 1st, 2008 at 05:53:20am
Thank you times infinity. I'm getting so sick of people using the "they're not nice to me, why should I be nice to them?" excuse.
Mad in the blood., August 1st, 2008 at 05:53:11am
I see both of you points, but you do know she is probably going to comment about how you didn't show her respect. I just wish it didn't have to be over differences of opinion, people are entitled to it. =(
