The Pain Fame Brings

Concerts.

“Hey!” yelled Pete from the couch as the two girls arrived in the backstage dressing room, “You came!”

“Yep,” Sadie smiled, making a bee-line for Joe.

“I’m really excited to see you guys play!” Hazel trilled, nervously. She didn’t know what to do with herself and sensing this Pete stood up, grabbed her and span her around.

“Oh my God! Pete, put me down!” He did so and she glared at him, “What the-”

“You feel better now, yes?” he said.

“Better. No. Nauseous. Yes.” She laughed at his pout.

“I thought I made everything better…” he mumbled, “Anyway, you ready to see Fall Out Boy?”

“Um… yeah…” he did not know that she had been preparing herself for the show ever since he had dropped her off at the hotel the night before.

She had even put on a face pack, plucked her eyebrows, shaved her legs and in the end she had to go for a jog to calm her nerves. Very few people knew what she liked to do in her spare time. Some celebrities went on crash diets or simply stopped eating but Hazel had been obsessed with running for years. She loved the feeling and it always stopped her from panicking in certain situations.

“You don’t sound too sure, are you okay?” he said, “Hey, I could get Becky to look after you? Yeah?”

He just kept talking and talking. He was either nervous himself or super excited.

“Um, okay?” she said.

He grinned, “Becky!”

She rushed into the room and skidded to a halt in front of them, “Yep?”

“Look after Hazel for me?”

“Sure,” she winked, “Come on bunny.”

“Bunny?” asked Hazel and Pete simultaneously.

“Yeah, she reminds me of them…”

“How?” Pete asked, giving his sister an ‘are you crazy?’ look.

“She’s so scared!” she giggled.

Pete looked at her, “You’ll be fine. Protect her with your life Becks!”

She nodded, “Let’s go babe.”

Becky led her to the VIP area as the show began and found their seats, which had ‘Reserved’ written in large handwriting.

“Ha, well it looks like Pete picked out our seats,” Becky muttered. They had a perfect view of the stage, “I bet he put us here so he could see you at all times!”

Hazel nodded, “Probably…”

“Why are you so nervous, darling?” Becky asked, concern etched all over her pretty face.

“I don’t know…” she whispered, as the lights turned low and the thousands of fans below them began to scream excitedly.

Fall Out Boy!” they chanted, over and over and Hazel began to feel the butterflies again.

“Here we go…” muttered Becky, smiling at Hazel whose eyes were glued to the stage as dark figures began to take their places.

The beat to Dance, Dance began to resound throughout the stadium as the fans screamed through the darkness.

“Are you ready?” a voice yelled down a microphone.

The crowd roared in appreciation.

“I think they’re ready,” the voice giggled. Hazel smiled inwardly as she saw his shadow move around excitedly.

And with that the lights were thrown on as Patrick began to sing.

“He’s so talented…” Hazel breathed.

“Patrick? Yeah, I know…” she muttered, wistfully.

“Hey, Becky you don’t… like Patrick do you?” Hazel swiveled in her seat to look at Becky.

“No!” she blurted, “No- I-”

“How long?”

“Huh?”

“How long have you been in love with Patrick?”

“How long have you wanted to jump my brother?” she countered.

“Ah, touché,” Hazel giggled at her reply, “We’re hopeless aren’t we?”

“Yeah, and god knows how we are managing to have an actual conversation here!”

Hazel nodded, turning her eyes back to the stage. Throughout the entire stage, she barely looked away from Pete. And every now and then he caught her doing so.

He had an ulterior motive for seating her so close to his side of the stage…

Four sweating boys exited stage after their second encore, elated yet tired.

“I’m hungry!” moaned Joe, rubbing his stomach.

Andy laughed, “I’ll get Sadie then…”

Joe shot a glare at him as they made their way to their dressing room where the girls waited.

“Joe!” squealed Sadie, who had been seated on the other side in the opposite VIP area so Joe could see her at all times, “You were so good!”

She jumped off the couch into his open arms.

“PDA! Sadie!” cried Hazel, shielding her eyes, “I don’t wanna see my cousin making out with guys!”

“Hey, I sit through your movies! Deal with it!” she cried, resuming planting kisses all over Joe’s face.

Hazel climbed back onto the dressing table and smiled at the guys who weren’t sucking face with her cousin.

“Really good show!” she said, grinning broadly.

“Thanks,” Patrick grinned before excusing himself to call ‘Danielle’.

Hazel noticed Becky staring sadly after him.

“So, what would you all like to do tonight?” Pete asked, pulling Hazel off the table and into a hug.

“Well, you guys should shower…” said Becky, still slightly saddened, “You’re suffocating Hazel.”

“I doubt it,” Pete laughed, letting go of Hazel who took a deep breath of relief, only making him laugh harder.

Patrick re-entered the room, with a rather disappointed look upon his face, “Hey.”

“What’s up Patrick?” Hazel asked.

“Um… I ugh… tried to call Danielle and this guy picked up and… and…” he stuttered, but could not finish as Hazel, Becky and Pete had him in a tight hug. Tears rolled down his face.

Sadie and Joe broke apart to join the hug.

“I swear to God, Pat, I’ll get revenge on the slut if my name isn’t Sadie Anne Iero!” she whispered.

Everyone not related to Sadie looked up in surprise.

“Sadie Iero? Are you serious?” Joe asked, “You’re brother is Frank Iero?”

“Yeah…”

“As in Frank Iero from My Chemical Romance?”

Sadie and Hazel began to giggle uncontrollably, “You sound like teenies!”

They all giggled nervously as Hazel and Sadie left the room to call ‘Frankie’ and tell them of their adventures…
