Sympathy got us a deal.
Sympathy got us a deal.
Sympathy gave us a deal.
They were smarter than Dorian Gray; they are bigger than The Beatles, they have sympathy and taste, ladies and gentleman the rolling stones.
It was London 2100, our very first century! The very first time to hang two zeros in the other side! Everything was mad! There were shirts everywhere screaming “The new Century!” Others were more nostalgic, how I recall that girl’s Ramones shirt that sang “It’s the end, the end of the 90’s, it’s the end the end of the century”
My mother was born in the last decade of the last century, before we had the “vivax”. She got to see the Rolling Stones when they were still old. In one of those concerts before the first decade. She got to see the whole decade, the worst parts; she was there in the guerrilla, and the most violent times. She has all these revolutions stories that would scare the bravest soul alive, my generation never got to see that. She even lived through the religious fascism, and the times of oppression when they had to hide underground. She says that “Sympathy for the devil” was one of the forbidden anthems, punk was radical, but what really started people off was rock n roll.
The politics and rich stars had the vivax, they developed it. It was only for those who could pay it, and it was kept hidden from very long. The rumors were that they had it developed through the war of Vietnam. The purest doses were elaborated back then. It was in a concert that Jagger, Richards, Watts, and Woods made their very own pact with the devil. It was a groupie who handed it to them; she had screwed a guy from the NASA and then stole the doses. Five pure doses. She told them to split one to four and just take one when they reached age 80. They thought it was a drug but with the years realized the true meaning of it.
When they turned 80 they were already hidden underground, it was the time before the great revolution, but they took it anyway. They say they drank it in the night and that next morning they looked like 27 year olds! When people understood what had been hidden from them, they started the rebellion. Nasty years of revolutions, and clandestine wars against oppression, but they succeeded. Their anthem was the infamous song “Street Fighting man” by the Rolling Stones.
From then the world grow up, really. I can say I live times of wonder, though I still fight for equality, freedom, and love. I live times with no black gold, no war has been fought since 2069. Then the organic material was discovered as technology. I know it seems normal nowadays, but mum who lived it says it took ages. I have seen the past in some of my time travels, and it was awful, how could anyone kill over a race? If we could interfere, we can’t though and that is probably for the best, it’s just like a picture, or a film.
One time I went to 1969. It was a year of love. Those hippie mates were so ahead for their time, if they could now see the world! It’s much more than anything they ever dreamt off! They would have got to change the world, but there were awful mistakes, events that put it all up until one hundred years later.
Especially the Altamont Free Speedway Festival, a boy was killed for his colour that day. Can you imagine that? I can’t it’s to screwed up. I wouldn’t have survived those times; I don’t know how my mom’s generation did it. Of living that first decade I would have shot myself, or become a selfish abstracted being, I don’t know. I think I would have focused only on my problematic and only the simpler aspect of life so I could just ignore the world. I know it sounds very selfish and coward and everyone from that generation would be ashamed of me. It’s a different time now though.
The lights went off. The darkness absorbed the entire field, and everyone finished their fags in the moment. Everyone was whispering. Every face was expectant; we felt it even if we couldn’t see it.
“Please allow me to introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
I’ve been around for a long, long year”
The ground start trembling, and before we knew it, it became red and shiny. I couldn’t see the stage because in a second the suddenly red field lifted up the air. It was like a gigantic balloon with the shape of a mouth sticking out the tongue. The sound was tremendous and we were past the clouds! The green fields barely shone with the stars and the music, boy the music!
That’s when I saw them, looking like eternal 27 year olds, singing over the lips of the balloon. Jagger danced like a mad man, Keith made love to that guitar! Charlie just smiled and kept the steady beat as if we were not up the airs, and Little Ronnie? Well played like tomorrow he’d die.
“Whats me name
Tell me, baby, whats my name
Tell me, sweetie, whats my name”
That’s when I heard it.
”Ooo, who, who, Ooo, who, who, Ooo, who, who, Ooo, who, who, Ooo, who, who, Ooo, who, who, Ooo, who, who, Oh, yeah”
Done for a challenge thing.
