When the Moon Fell in Love with the Sun

Part Four

“Hey, Frankie, wake up its nearly eleven, wake up Frankie,” slowly Frank turned onto his back, and blinked profusely, his eyes adjusting to the dark settings. He saw a figure in the darkness and smiled as recognition flooded his mind and features.

“Solar Eclipse,” he mumbled, smiling sleepily.

“Yaha,” came Gerard’s bright, and happy reply. Standing up Frank stretched taking the duvet from his bed, and pulling it over his shoulders. He watched as Gerard literally bounced to the door, sliding the glass door open and walking outside.

Frank soon joined Gerard, closing the door and sitting on the floor, he let go of one of the sides of the duvet so Gerard could sit on it too, then they both leaned back against the doors.

Glancing up the cool breeze whipped around them, the dark sky like a vortex ready to swallow them at any minute. The few stars twinkled bright white, like broken glass of a car windshield, all different sizes but with a light bluey tint to them. Just above them was a bright, fireball orange sphere, the colour standing out amongst the dark blues, and light whites. The sun.

“Don’t look at the sun,” Frank murmured before disappearing into the hotel room, and then returning moments later brandishing two pairs of dark lensed glasses. Handing a pair to Gerard he resumed his seat.

“I don’t want you going blind,” he grinned, putting his own glasses on, Gerard following suite.

Both boys sat still, their eyes focused on the orange ball above them, they watched as another sphere came into view, except this one was as dark as the night sky surrounding it.

They watched with awe as the dark shape loomed over the sun, covering up the orange glow bit by bit, slowly the colour diminished. As the two boys moved to sit closer together, Gerard’s arm moving to pull Frank closer to him still, and to rest around the smaller boys waist.

The black circle continued to chase the orange sphere until it was completely covering it, a bright white light bleeding from the curves of the sphere. The white bleeding light turned to an electric blue colour, before sparking, and dulling to complete black.

Frank felt Gerard’s arm squeeze his waist, and he moved his hand to grab onto the hand resting on his hip, giving Gerard’s hand a reassuring squeeze.

And just as quick as the blackness had engulfed the beautiful orange glow, it uncovered it for the entire world to see, the dark circle easing away until there was nothing left, but the dark blue sky, the light white stars, and orange sphere, enlighting the world.

Frank sighed happily, turning to face Gerard, to see a smile on the other man’s face. Pulling his own glasses off, and then Gerard’s he let go of his hand, Frank moved to lean up on his knees, and then he pressed a kiss to Gerard’s lips.

This kiss wasn’t as gentle as the others, it was more consistent, a little more pressure, his hands slid up to rest against Gerard’s cheeks, as he stroked softly at the skin there. Gerard’s hands moved to Frank’s hips as he pulled their bodies closer together, Frank getting the hint, moved nearer, and placed one of his knees between Gerard’s legs so he could kiss him better.

It was just lips on lips, moving against one another, closed eyes, and slacked jaws as they pushed together. Gerard trailed his hands up Frank’s back and into the younger boy’s hair, fisting his hands into the soft, dark locks.

Frank sighed contentedly into the kiss, his eyes still closed as he angled his head to the left slightly, pulling away they both smiled lazily, with half lidded eyes. Gerard licked his lips, as they both tried to regain normal breathing patterns, Frank sitting back onto his heels, and Gerard’s leg.

Standing up he held his hand out of the older boy, pulling him up and then picking up his duvet, they both made their way inside. Closing and locking the door, Frank made his way over to his bed, lying down and pulling the duvet on top of him, his eyes adjusted to the dark settings, and the soft silver glow coming through the window enhancing his eyesight.

He watched with amusement as Gerard got under his duvet, squirming at the cold sensation the cotton gave off.

“Frankiee!” He whined sitting up in bed and glancing at the younger boy.

“Whaat?” Frank mimicked smirking as he saw Gerard cross his arms.

“My blankets all cold,” he stated in a childish voice, Frank laughed.

“Aww diddums, what can I do about that?” He asked, snuggling under his own warm duvet.

“Give me yours..?”

“Hmm, or you could come share with me?” Frank said, his voice becoming a whisper as he reached the end of the sentence.

“I’d like that,” Gerard replied, before moving to walk over to Frank’s bed, Frank moved over and Gerard slipped beneath the blankets, clinging onto Frank’s shirt as he faced the younger boy.

“You’re really cold,” Frank murmured absently, wrapping his arms around Gerard and pulling him closer still, giggling softly when Gerard pushed his head into the crook of his neck.

“You make me warm and fuzzy inside though,” Gerard replied, moving to gaze into Frank’s eyes, Frank leaned forward and pushed his lips to Gerard’s, the older boy flicking his tongue out between his lips to nudge at the cool metal lip ring.

Slowly Frank parted his lips, his tongue hesitant as he pushed it forward, until he felt the soft, damp warmth of Gerard’s tongue, both boys were tentative at first, this kiss was different to the ones onstage, this kiss meant something. It held truth, hope, feelings, and it held a future.

Feeling daring Gerard pushed his tongue a little firmly against Frank’s sighing as Frank complied; the words fireworks and magic sprung to mind, as they felt, and tasted and lived.

They both pulled away grinning, there were no words to be said, the softness, and care in the kiss spoke better words that either of them could have said. They snuggled down into the covers, arms encircling each other, and leg’s intertwining. “You’re all I’ve ever wanted,” Frank muttered before sleep claimed them both in its grasp of dreamlands and stories of make-believe.
