Haha, I'm quite sick of people arguing whether punk is dead or not, but idc, I like the music and the style, yes it's simple but not everything in life needs to be complex. Just because you like the music doesn't mean you have to be a punk

So awesome title! It totally caught me, because I recognized it! :D It's Refused's third and final album, or the name is the same ^^ I sort of like their music, but not really either. But I think it's pretty awesome that one of the best (from my point of view) punk bands come from or came from Sweden. Anyways, nicely written article, your writing is very good ^^
Hugs and merry christmas! <3 And a happy new year too!

RadBoisterousPerson took the words offa my fingers. Cause, you know, I'm typing.... *bad pun*

And I'm a fan of Green Day, but American Idiot is more so..."revolutionary punk" than whatever is considered "traditional punk", as it made it slightly more accepted for bands to write/perform rock operas.

Or maybe I'm just blabbering. Shut me up if you can.

Big D and the Kids Table is so not punk. They're plain Ska. If anything they're poppunk.

Also, Aqua Crescent, back when punk started it was about being excepted for being different aka having the upper classes except the working class. It was about changing the government to make things better. It turned into the belief of anarchy which meant no government, but there are some punk bands that never believed in that during the 1970s. It's not about not conforming. Like any style, it's about being yourself. The punk style was there before the music.

Punk music now is just...blah. It's all popish and some of these bands are getting whiney which makes them emo bands then. Punk now doesn't have that traditional sound. Yeah, the style is about being yourself, but like with any other genre of music, you need a certain sound to be considered it. Bands from 1975 - about the late 90s were good. There are some exceptions.

In my view, punk is like Prohibition and Communism: it looks great on paper but can never actually exist. I have always seen it as a contradiction as it is an idealism defined by certain expectations and one must conform to these expections, and one of these expections is non-conformity. There is music. There are non-conformists. There are non-confirmists who play music. There is no punk. :/
