In NZ you arent allowed to work on mines until your 17. It was the 17 yr olds birthday the day before and he wasnt meant to start work till the monday but begged his new boss to start on the friday because all he ever wanted was to work on the mines. So sad.

This is another reason why coal mining is completely immoral. I think everyone in Australia and New Zealand has been really moved by this disaster. My heart goes out to every family affected by this tragedy; May your lives herein be free from suffering.

When the news first came out, I didn't really know about it because I haven't watches tv in a while but then I put it on the news channel only to find out that the friends and families were told their loved ones have died.
It's tragic and also just something you wouldn't ever want to hear. Not even getting to say goodbye to them.

Also, I don't get why the first paragraph was removed in editing?

"New Zealand endured a national day of mourning after the news broke of a second explosion and the deaths of 29 miners that have been trapped in a remote coal mine on the country’s west coast since last week."

It leads into it better (I think) now the first~ paragraph seems like a poor introduction into the story. :/

Oh that's fucked :( The picture I submitted didn't turn out right - beside the mine site there was a map of New Zealand, with Greymouth labelled. So yeeah.
