Maybe try writing a few chapters both ways? Things might become clearer for you then. But if you're leaning towards first person, then that's probably the right answer. =)

Well it's a fantasy and it follows the main character Luna. The prologue however is from her stepfather. I was starting to think that maybe first person would be better because it would give a better description of the dark feelings that are kind of lying in wait...

Oh, I've had this issue before. =P It's not a fun one. What kind of story are you writing? If you were to write it in first person, who would be your narrator and why? And if in third person, would you still just follow one character (eg. the way that J.K. Rowling writes Harry Potter) or would you alternate between following different characters?

I think I'm mostly confused about POV...I'm not sure if first or third fits the plot

I actually just recently found this website, where they will apparently critic chapters or entire novels (if you want that much criticed). Straight from their about page:

"It works something like this: Suppose you submit a short story or chapters of a novel (whole novels and other large works are handled differently; see below). You email your manuscript (in the proper format), it gets put into a queue of stories; in about a month, when it bubbles to the top of the queue, it (and a batch of others) are shown around to the members (by email or they can get them off the web page). Critiques are due within a week. Most pieces get 15-20 critiques."

Maybe they could be helpful? I think it's free, but I haven't looked into it too hard just yet.

On the flip side, I'd be willing to give you plot advice if you need it. I'm not pretending to be the best, but I can give it a shot.
