I get the feeling of seeing a wonderful idea and wanting to steal it right up, happens all the time. We also had our pep rally today, the dancers wore lightsuits and turned the lights off and they were like little constellations, they were pretty cool.
The new vice principal this year attempted to break up some grinding this year. And she even followed my friends into the bathroom to ask them where their pants were.
@ iggy. My school is kind of backwoods, so the DJs alternate between country and rap, but the bad country and rap that usually makes me uncomfortable. If there was a bigger variety, not so terrible. Heck, if it was only the bubbliest pop music I would be happier with it.
Oh dear lord, that must be the worst part of their job. Especially if they've still got enough fight left to try and get the grind train to disperse.
The grinding scarred me, too. And sometimes the DJs at our school dances have been pretty good, but most of them just play the same popular songs from the radio. I wish that they would think outside of the box.
I feel sorry for the teachers who have to watch all the grinding and just stand there.
@ iggy. Oh god, the grinding. It scarred me. I would probably go if it was just a hangout, but...the grinding. Plus I'm a music snob, and most of what they play makes me want to cry.
Yeah. We have periods 0, 2, 4, and 6 on Wednesdays. Then our odd numbered classes on Thursday.
That really sucks. But I understand how that happens. They took out the Sadie Hawkins dance when I was in my freshman year and replaced it with something else, and people still didn't go. Dances can be quite depressing when nobody shows up.
@ gonna hear dru roar. I usually end up abandoning my original plot and end up with character driven things, which is what makes me stop.
@ iggy. I do see how it would be difficult to get things done in such a short time. Usually, my teachers can get through the lesson in half the period and then we're left to do work or whatever. So on Wednesdays and Thursdays do you have half your classes for longer?
We only have homecoming and prom. My parents said there used to be dances every month, but people lost interest over the years.
That really sucks. But that is a valid point. We don't get much done in 50 minute days, and the teachers seem to rely on the long periods on Wednesdays and Thursdays to get stuff done. Sorry, in my last post I wrote Thursdays and Fridays, but I meant Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Oh gosh, homecoming dance is pretty awesome. Do you guys have a Sadie Hawkins dance?
I feel the same way about ideas sometimes. I just can't execute plot-driven stories the way I can execute character driven ones. It doesn't mean I don't have these awesome ideas. I just can't translate them the right way.
@ iggy. Mibba stuff is much cooler than most things that involve school spirit. I went to the homecoming dance in freshman year and vowed never again.
Ours are always an hour an a half, but we alternate the classes every other day. I would prefer 50 minute classes with every subject every day, but apparently we can't learn like that or something.
@ iggy. I would pay people to write for me if I had any money.
How long are the classes normally?
I don't have very much school spirit, so I'm going to skip everything. Plus it's, like, cold and drizzly outside and I don't really want to sit in that for a football game, which is the only thing I'd consider. What about you?
