I Wish We Lived in a World Where There are No Staircases, but a lot of Ramps

When I think about it, ramps seem better than staircases. It takes more effort to walk up and down a staircase than a ramp, and you get the same desired goal: to go from one level to the next. And in retrospect, when falling, stairs hurt a lot more.

Today for instance, I was going down the staircase at a casual pace. My foot slipped off the edge of one of the steps and the right side of my back hit the staircase hard. Now that side of my back is swollen, and I'm in pain. If I were on a ramp, there would have been no step edge for my back to hit. I would have just fallen on my butt.

Another time, I was walking up the stairs and slipped and the bridge of my nose also hit the edge of a step. It was swollen for a few hours and hurt like hell.

For the notoriously clumsy (i.e. me), ramps seem a lot safer.

And also, aren't ramps simpler to make? The construction of one doesn't seem as elaborate as staircases are.

Ramps would also make a lot more places handicap friendly.

Ramps just seem logical to me. What do you think?
