"Suicide" What do you think?

Ok, so today in my English class, we go onto the subject of suicide. My teacher commented "Suicide is a very selfish way to go. When someone commits suicide, you don't know whether to hate them or love them. They do not realize that they are hurting the people who love them." That was a selfish statement.

If someone commits suicide, then they are in so much pain that they think that is the only way to end it. I don't think it's right to expect them to go through all that pain just for your feelings. As a loved one, you should talk to that person if you sense that something is wrong.

My mom's cousin committed suicide, and his mom never believed it. She always said he was murdered. He was always the life of the party, but yet, he was bipolar and never got medication for it, so when his wife divorced him, he never got over it.

So now, I ask you. What do you think of suicide? Is it selfish, or a last resort? Do you know anyone who has committed suicide that was close to you?
